WAMSO-Minnesota
Orchestra Volunteer Association's Kinder Konzerts program in Minneapolis
introduces children to orchestral music through the hands-on experience of
playing instruments and a concert designed for children. Docents escort
children to the concert and lead a Sound Factory where children will sing,
enjoy musical activities and play real instruments. Weekdays from October
2010-May 2011.
Lunch Buddy
Project
for Pride in Living Youth Development in Minneapolis strives to empower
students from low-income families to achieve success in school and in life
through academic support, hands on opportunities, and positive relationships
with adults. The Lunch Buddy program connects students with adult lunch
companions once a week.

Minneapolis
Park and Recreation Board's 4th annual Bike Tour will be held on Sunday,
September 19th. More than 150 volunteers are needed to register

Becklin Homestead County
Park/Wildlife Management Area
Looking
for a way to make an impact on Minnesota's wildlife? The Becklin Homestead
County Park and State Wildlife Management Area (WMA) will play host to Great
River Greening volunteers as they plant 2500 oak seedlings as part of an oak
savanna restoration along the state-designated wild and scenic Rum River on
September 18th.
Volunteer Juror Opportunities
William
Mitchell College of Law in St Paul needs volunteer jurors to participate in
mock trials on September 16 and/or 17 or December 2, 3 and/or 4. You will
deliberate on a verdict, announce the verdict, and spend time with the judge
and students critiquing the students. Starts at 8:00 a.m. and ends at
approximately 2:30. Lunch provided.

Aseracare
Hospice Companion Volunteers guide patients through their end of life 'living'
experience. Companions offer a calming presence, compassion, and
listening and may also assist in additional activities such as reading,

at least once a week for 1-2 hours. Training sessions provided quarterly.
Warehouse Volunteer
VEAP
(Volunteers Enlisted to Assist People) is a multi-service non-profit agency
serving the communities of Bloomington, Edina, Richfield and S. Mpls.
They serve low-income families, individuals, elderly and disabled persons
through their Social Services Programs. Volunteers must attend a 1-hour
informational meeting, complete an application and pass a criminal background
check.
Spare Key Newsletter Production
Spare
Key of Bloomington needs a newsletter editor for quarterly newsletter
production. They provide assistance to Minnesota homeowners with
critically ill or seriously injured children by making a mortgage payment on
the family's behalf, allowing them to spend time with their child.
Give a much-needed break to a
family caregiver
Give
support and a break to someone caring for their loved one- you'll see a face
light up with thanks. You'll supervise and socialize with the senior
needing care for 4 hours each week or as available. DARTS has opportunities
throughout Dakota County. Volunteer assignment can be shared.
Canteen Host
Know
how to make a lasting impression? Memorial Blood Centers of Minneapolis needs
hosts to ensure blood donors' last impressions are good ones. Serve

seeking participants at Project Pride in Living's Learning Center in

The
Big Brothers Big Sisters of the Greater Twin Cities Community-based program
connects adults and young people who want a mentoring relationship with

with round-trip transportation to a nearby grocery or department store and help

items. Additional items could include linens and kitchen/ laundry
supplies.
Barber
Ramsey
County Volunteers in Corrections Inc needs a volunteer professional barber to
cut young male residents' hair at Boys Totem Town (a juvenile correctional
facility) in Maplewood. There will be a wide range of ethnicities.
Barber provides own tools and sets up and cleans up work area. A
one year commitment for Saturdays or Sundays twice a month required.

Kaleidoscope Place of Minneapolis obtain needed supplies by organizing a
donation drive. They need healthy snacks and beverages, culturally
specific children's books, cleaning supplies, arts and crafts materials, and
clothing and underwear. An easy way to coordinate a drive it to ask
family, friends, and colleagues to bring an item to the next event you may be
organizing or hosting.

Anthony Park Community Council has opportunities for youth and adults to help
neighborhood seniors and disabled individuals maintain their independence
and stay in the homes by providing minor home maintenance chores. Most
chores are outdoors and some minor indoor household chores, all on a on-call
basis. Requires orientation.
The
GLBTA Programs Office is currently hiring Student Interns for 2010-11. The
responsibilities of these fun, flexible positions include communications,
outreach, clerical duties, and assistance with planning and delivery of
programs/events.
Requirements include having work-study funds, the ability to work 8-12
hrs/week, strong communication and multi-tasking skills, and a commitment to
working on GLBTA issues within a social, economic and racial justice framework.

1 on the West Bank in 175 Willey Hall.

MKO event is a means to create community among the incoming first-year

identifying academic and cultural supports on campus. It provides an
opportunity for the students to meet students, faculty, and staff from diverse
backgrounds.

following the game. The number of residents playing Bingo depends on the number
of volunteers; thus, your help is much needed.
Cook It Up

your love of cooking with others! Join other HandsOn Twin Cities volunteers as
they prepare, cook and serve meals (buffet-style) to residents at Ascension
Place in Minneapolis on July 24th. Ascension Place provides women in
crisis or transition with a stable environment and the opportunity to explore
options for their future.

1967, Model Cities has promoted the social and economic wellbeing of
individuals, families and communities in under-served neighborhoods within or
adjacent to St. Paul's Enterprise Community. Volunteers are needed to
assist with landscaping projects at Model Cities' housing property in St. Paul
and nearby sites. Second and fourth Saturdays monthly, May through
October.

Blitz at your location to provide birthday gift bags for less fortunate
children. Each person brings small new toys for children ages 3-12, then
together assemble the bags and deliver them to a nearby shelter or food shelf.
Green Activity Assistant
Help
to demonstrate and assist visitors in completing an interesting activity
involving green energy at the Bakken Museum in Minneapolis.
Undergraduate SEED Award recipients are diverse students who demonstrate impressive achievement and leadership in the area(s) of a) academic performance and/or b) community outreach/activism. In addition, SEED Award recipients will demonstrate a deep understanding of and commitment to issues of equity, diversity, and social justice through their academic work and/or service to the community.

new Volunteering in America report shows that volunteer rates are on the
rise! People responded to the worst
economic downturn since WWII by reaching out their hands to help their
neighbors and their communities. Although many analysts expected to see the
country's crime rate rise dramatically, and the spirit of unity fade, we posted the highest volunteer involvement recorded since 2003. More than
63 million people volunteered in 2009, an increase of almost 1.6 million.
Volunteer service in 2009 was valued at more than $169 billion.
The top five large cities for volunteering rates were Minneapolis-St. Paul,
Portland, Salt Lake City; Seattle, and Oklahoma City. The top five states were:
Utah, Iowa, Minnesota, Nebraska, and Alaska. For the fourth year in a row,
Minneapolis-St. Paul ranks #1 for volunteerism in the nation!

Friday, July 16 with activities and offers every day through Sunday, July 25.
Give guided tours of the mansion that houses the museum's collections and

Shifts are available July 18 and 25, 12:45pm-3pm.
Golf Charity Event Volunteers
Perspectives
Family Center needs volunteers to help out at a Golf Charity Event.
Various positions including putting gifts together and handing them out,
manning golf holes with specific games at them, spotters at holes, and setup
and takedown. Two shifts between 11-5 on July 19th at Minneapolis Golf
& Country Club, also need a few volunteers at 10am.

Sexual Violence Center in Minneapolis needs a volunteer to help education the
community. Field education requests, schedule, solicit and give
presentations, provide crisis counseling, and hold one office shift per week.
Requires attending free 43 hour volunteer training and a 3 ½ hour community
education session. Intermittent physical activity including lifting 25
lbs or more.
