Have you ever heard of a little purple berry called Acai? Acai is found mainly in Central and South America and has been all the rage for weight loss supplements within the past few years. There are sites all over the internet allowing for free trials or samples of the pills. It is important to be wary of these sites because free trials often lead to monthly payments for these berry supplements. Also many sites that sell the Acai berry often fail to mention that they are simply extracts or blend of the actual berry and may contain more added chemicals than berry itself. But do the supplements actually help you loose weight in three days as some ads suggest? First off, it is known that Acai berries are very good for the body. They are packed with healthy omega fats, amino acids, vitamins, minerals and fiber. These berries are antioxidants that can play a role in the body's cell protection system and reduce the risk of heart disease and cancer. images.jpeg
Although this berry is good for you, it may not affect the body any different from any other fruit. Scientists are gaining knowledge of super foods like the Acai berry, but little research has been found for its adverse effects on weight loss. However, eating a diet rich in antioxidants is generally supported for weight loss. Bottom line is: do plenty of research on suspicious diet claims before beginning a free trial or sample. Lose, not loose. Change your title before it gets graded.

Truth in advertising is laughable with nearly any weight loss system. I have seen people mess up their body chemistry going on Atkins or other instant reward diets, and it's just ridiculous that people keep thinking these are real diets.

People seem to jump at any chance to lose an extra pound, or 10, in a day. They do little research, don't consider alternatives or side-effects, and wonder why it all failed in the end. Simply put, if it sounds too good to be true, it is.

A couple of my parent's friends have tried a serious weight loss plan or diet to lose 20-30 pounds in a short period of time, and it has done them worse than good. Going into a diet without knowing how it will affect your body can be dangerous to your health. Doing research and discussing with your doctor if it is okay for you to go onto a certain diet should be some of the precautions you take before going on it.

Many people try to lose their weight without any effort into it. Acai is the one of the great examples showing that people prefer to lose weight by eating some healthy fruit, not by exercising. In reality, there are not many diet foods that actually assist losing the weight. It would be imporatant to do exercise to lose weight rather than taking uncertain diet foods in order to lose your weight.

I would be interested in purchasing these berries and adding them to my everyday diet, they sound healthy! But as far as diet/fads go, any time that much weight is lost in such a short amount of time, something unhealthy must be taking place. My favorite way to lose weight? Eat less, and exercise more.

What do you think about the weight loss claims? Is acai over-rated?

This is one of the coolest blog posts so far! I remember in the summer being up at 3 am and seeing these infomercials for almost the same thing, losing insane amounts of weight by just taking a pill. If you think about it though, why do these outrageous weigh loss infomercials not air during the day or when most people actually watch the TV? The reason is because they don't have enough money to air during that time, but more importantly because their target audience is the people who wake up at 3 am eating a bowl of ice cream. It's all marketing and psychology, however it's clear that infomercials for weight loss are not doing a good job.

Great example of an extraordinary claim. The picture with the woman giving you the thumbs up really is a great selling point. Who doesn't want to look like the Fonz?
I would be interested to know how much of this product they have sold, because enough though it is a cheesy ad, there are people that do purchase this product without taking into account the side effects/toll on their body.

The psychology behind advertising is definitely an interesting subject and this is a perfect example. So many people are easily fooled by weight loss advertising and the lure of a healthy body weight it's almost ridiculous. People will try anything except physical exercise. This seems even more perfect because you're eating to lose weight!
