Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinics

Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinics are a free service for Anoka County Residents. The clinics are open Wednesday evenings from 6:00-8:00 PM from mid-May through August. They are held at the Anoka County Extension office in Bunker Hills Activities Center. The first clinic will open on May 22nd.

At the Plant Health Clinic residents of Anoka County will be able to:

• Bring in weeds or insect samples for identification.
• Bring samples of damaged plant material for diagnoses of common insects, diseases, or other problems.
• Receive University of Minnesota recommendations for best practices for most of your gardening or landscaping concerns.

Master Gardener Plant Sale

Shop for perennials, specialty annuals, vegetables, herbs, native plants, houseplants and more at the annual Anoka County Master Gardener's plant sale on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 from 7:30 to 3:00

Master Gardener volunteers will also help to answer your gardening questions. There is plenty of parking nearby. Come early as some selections run out quickly.

Anoka MGs working with 4-H youth

On May 4, 2013 from 9:00AM to 12:00PM, Anoka County Master Gardeners will present at the 4-H Spring Project Workshop Day. This activity will be held at the Bunker Hills Activities Center in Andover, MN. For more information visit the Anoka County Master Gardener website.

Applications are now available for the Anoka County Master Gardener program. To obtain an application, select: 2013 Master Gardener Application. Fill out the form online, print, sign, enclose $10 application fee and mail by the deadline of September 28.

About Us

Educating people where they live and work about horticulture

Master Gardeners are University of Minnesota-trained volunteers whose job is to educate the public about a variety of horticulture subjects using readily-available, up-to-date research-based information. This educational effort is designed to enhance the public's quality of life and to promote good stewardship of the environment.

Anoka County Master Gardeners:

• Educate adults by teaching classes at the Home Landscaping and garden Fair, the Walk in the Garden Series or upon request by local organizations


• Educate youth in schools through the Junior Master Gardener program, the GAPS Challenge program and 4H programs


• Provide landscape design and instruction for Habitat for Humanity sites


• Answer residents' horticulture questions via the Yard and Garden Line phone service


• Serve weekly throughout summer at the Plant and Insect Diagnostic Clinics


• Set up Ask A Master Gardener Booths at local garden centers, community events, Anoka County Fair and at the Nowthen Threshing Show


• Assist with partnering organizations such as Great River Greening, local watershed districts, Anoka County Parks


• Design and maintain the Anoka County Veteran's Peace and Master Gardener Demonstration Garden
