2013 Spring Plant Sale - NEW DATE - Saturday, June 1

Due to a late spring, we have moved our plant sale to a slightly later date so that you will have a larger plant selection to choose from. Mark your calendar to shop our spring plant sale on Saturday, June 1st from 9 am to 12 pm at the Master Gardener Education and Research Display Garden at UMore Park in Rosemount.

Gather your gardening friends and bring a cart or wagon to take home perennials, including peonies from the peony garden, annuals, fruit, vegetables, including heirloom tomatoes and shrubs. Arrive early for the best selection and bring an umbrella in case of inclement weather. The sale will be held regardless of rain. Parking is free and there is no admission charge.

Plant Diagnostic Health Clinics 2013

Master Gardeners hold Plant Health Diagnostic Clinics to help identify plants and insects and to diagnose common plant diseases. Bring in a weed or ornamental plant, fruit, vegetable, tree sample, shrub sample turf sample or an insect for identification and recommendations for cultural control. Clinics are from 6-8 pm unless otherwise specified and will be held in various locations throughout the community. 2013 Plant Health Diagnostic Clinic schedule may change to include additional dates. Check back frequently for schedule changes. Clinics are free of charge.

2013 Seed Trials

Each year beginning in February, a group of Master Gardeners gathers at a greenhouse on the University of Minnesota's St. Paul campus to plant seeds for our educational and research display gardens at UMore Park in Rosemount, including the "M" garden. This year is different, however, in that the seeding will begin at the University and then move to the new high tunnels that were built near the educational and research display gardens.

New seed trials this year from Ball Seed Company and PanAmerican Seed total 39 new varieties, some to release in 2014, including three new celosia, three new coleus, several herbs and four varieties of pepper, to name a few.

Although gravel mining at UMore will begin this spring, some Master Gardener Educational and Research Display Gardens will remain, including the seed trials and All-America Selection gardens, and of course the gazebo and its accompanying parameter garden.

Dakota Kids Junior Master Gardener Camp
