Light breeze from the southeast. Overcast; leaden sky and water. Light snow from last night highlights the thin ice shelf along southeast and south, in places out to fifty feet. Many mallards and a half dozen coots show to southwest; the flocks riding in the middle of the lake, just visible with binoculars, are too far out to identify. The three floating docks must be anchored in place: they rotate but don't drift away. A fisherman in a metal boat near the north shore, wearing a headlamp, is conspicuous in the dark.
