Racks and sheets of cumulostratus with large patches of blue sky and scattered sun. Mild breeze from the northwest; mild air. Birds audible, not visible, in the bird sanctuary. The floating plastic gangway is now grounded, and much disrupted by last winter's ice. A black butterfly in the path. More than a dozen sailboats are now moored at their buoys, decked out with lines of fluttering plastic pennants in primary colors meant to discourage gulls. A few gulls flying aboutt; the usual mallards; a crow. Violets beginning to bloom in masses near the creek; otherwise spring's growth is still tentative, the brush and trees as much brown as green.
