Ragged clouds morph to well-defined cumulus as the front clears; light breeze from the west. Both beaches becoming busy. Mallards, swallows, gulls. A large dragonfly with black-and-white bars on its wings hovers around a stand of creeping bell flower; also many smaller, iridescent damselflies. Blackbird again at the top of the little tree on the small island at the inlet; flowers there include a bright clump of purple loosestrife. Wood duck and ducklings in the weeds near the southwestern shore; eleven geese bathing and preening in the shallow water off the western shore. Monarch butterfly conspicuous among the sedge at the northeast. Plastic brontosaurus off the eastern inlet attracts a dozen young children and adults.
