Gray and white clouds clearing after recent rain, more and more blue sky and sun; cool, brisk breeze from the west. Groups of mallards and ducklings around the lake, one brood quite young. Heron standing on one leg on a rock off the southwest inlet, catching the sun. Water turbid and green, even in the distance. Two geese and five very large goslings resting on the grass at the western edge of the water; two more and seven not so large grouped a short distance a way; mild hissing from one of the geese. Monarch butterflies fluttering among the milkweed plants along the north shore. The trees, grass, and brush all bright green in the sun. Great blue heron lightly flapping its wings in the breeze close to the shore. Dark green in the shade along the creek, which is running along.
