Thickening overcast. Gray lake, dark in large patches. Open water along the edges; growing opening near the band shell. A couple of gulls there; some starlings on the ice; a few mallards near the shore; sound of red-wing blackbirds coming from the northern marsh. Painter at work at his easel among the boats beached near the band shell.
