Leadership- Is a role that one plays in order to take control in an equal gathering or a hierarchy. A leader's role persists of performing actions that go beyond their job description. A Leader is one who can take responsibility for what happens while, organizing, managing, leading, a group. Leader is also who takes responsibility for things that go wrong and takes the initiative to make it better rather then blaming it on an other team member. A leader is also one who does not discriminate against peoples opinions within his team and also is able to organize an action plan in occurrence of a crisis. Also a leader is able to use good communication to address deeply felt issues to his/her audience.

Changes
I did not make any changes this week either because i feel like i covered everything that a leadership roles means to me. The thing that stuck with me from the reading was, "Relationships between virtual community members are not always confined to the virtual realm; rather, members often have pre-existing offline relationships with one another, or alternatively, form offline relationships after 'meeting' online." (Sessions 375 - 395) This was something that i felt was not necessarily true because, there are so many meetings I have had with people that I have never met in real life.

Changes
I did not change anything in this weeks defination for leadership becasue i was not able relate anything new towards leadership from this weeks reading. Although the reading was very interesting something that stuck to me was according to the reading, the self awareness of an individual increases as time spent, but the relationship management goes down versus just management. (Boyatzis pg 607-623) Its amazing few years into a professional career one can become more confident and have better leadership. A lot of people argue that leadership is somewhat of a natural skill, but i agree with the reading and the fact that leadership is obtained as experience is gained.

This week i did not change anything in the defination because i didnt feel anything else fit my idea of leadership. "Depends on your defination of racism." This week I added to the leadership definition; I added a part stating that a leader is able to use good communication to address deeply felt issues to his/her audience.
Changes
This week I changed stabilizing crisis to, organizing an action plan if there is a crisis. I feel that suits a leader better because the example of a boat sinking and trying to find what the leader can do to fix it led me to think that a leader should be able to come up with an action plan in the case of a crisis. In this weeks reading it said, "They believe all leaders have something to offer beyond their tangible contributions." (Barbuto pg. 4-27) I feel that was a great characteristic of a leader because a leader is able to recognize that extra strength in all involved creating a positive result.

This week I fixed the end on my last weeks defination stating that a leader is someone who doesnt ignore a team memebers opinion. Also I added that a leader is someone who is able to stabalize a crisis. I got this from the reading when it stated, "The task of leading during a sustained crisis--whether you are the CEO of a major corporation or a manager heading up an impromptu company initiative--is treacherous." (Garshow & Heiftz pg. 62-69)This shows that a leader is one that stands out when a situation is happening with a negative flow.

Changes
In this weeks defination i added a part that explains that a leader is someone who does not discriminate within his group. It means that if there is a team of 5 people with 4 of them have a same view and one having different view; a leader will not take majority rules. He/She will find the best suitable situation for the time. There is a quote in the reading, "Everyone has the right to freedom of thought. Conscience. And religion."(Paul & Elder pg. 4-36) I completely agree with this because everyone should be able to speak their mind and a leader should be able to ensure that.

I did not make any changes this week to my Leadersip defination because i have not come across anything that seemed to fit what a leader to me in this weeks readings. I agree with i read in this weeks reading especially the article with Terry, "Deciding what you believe," when it talked about whats ethical and whats not. I feel that these values apply to me everyday at work because there will be times that you help a customer and they require you to do something unethical, but if you do that it helps the customer and company. So knowing whats ethical and unethical but realizing the pros and cons from the actions are what i value the most.

I added to my definition explaining that the leader takes the responsibility rather than blaming others for the problem. I do agree with the reading for the week because it talks about how leaders are able to use people around them. There is a quote in the reading, "A leader is someone who can get things done through other people."(Rath & Conchie pg. 75-85) I completely agree with this quote because I feel a leader is someone that can involve himself/herself with a group of people and be successful, whether its individually or a team success.
