Bur oak in open savannah
This is a close-up of bur oak (Quercus macrocarpa) leaves. The tree was at the top of an open savanna-type area at Afton State Park. I chose this image because it depicts a bur oak in its historical natural habitat, and because oaks are an interesting group of very similar species within the same genus yet there is a great diversity of them.
