I can't figure out what kind of "beans" these are, if they even are some kind of beans. I found these when I was on a walk through my neighborhood and they look like green beans, but I have never seen beans in the fall like this before.
I think this is a rhododendron, and the "beans" are actually the thick, deep green leaves that have folded up into tubes...maybe to conserve water although that doesn't make much sense in winter.
