This plant was found in my backyard in our garden.  I believe that its still healthy because of the good soil that it is in and even though there hasn't been much sunlight, it is getting a bit of rain.  Also I believe that it looks like a tough plant that is able to adapt to the temperature and environment.

This plant here was also found in my backyard along side the porch area.  As you can see that there is still green leaves left, however, some are beginning to turn yellow and the others have seem to have wilted away.  I think its managing because it is set low to the ground and is able to retain most of its nutrients.

Hardy Plants

I am amazed by my strawberry patch.  They look really healthy and strong - even as the leaves change colors.  I suspect the fact that they are protected by the garage to the east, and the shed to the north helps them remain so full of life.  They also get quite a bit of sun from the south, which doesn't hurt either.

This weed is in a narrow space between my shed, garage, my neighbor's garage, and the fence.  It doesn't get much sun (maybe that is why it is so tall...reaching for the light), but it is very protected from the elements.  Although none of the buildings surrounding it are heated, the weed is protected from the wind, and frost simply because they buildings are close.

I found this at the back of 900, although it seems died, but I think it is still alive, at least the root of it. I saw the same condition last year but it still turned green last spring.

This is the picture I took last weekend in duluth, a park on a mountain, in the picture, the small fall there is frozen, but the trees around are still in green, I think this is because the species of trees, and also due to water and enough sunlight.

Here is a plant I found in the backyard of my house; this plant is actually not just alive but it seemed to be thriving. It was getting quite a bit of sunlight, and was in a pot which probably keeps the soil warmer, and maybe this plant likes a bit of cold? Also, this is one of the few still alive in the yard that has not be destroyed by our family's black lab or "demon dog" as my mom so lovingly nicknamed him.

Here is another plant that was still alive in my backyard. Once again, similar conditions to the above plant, it was getting plenty of sunlight, and was in a pot which would further insulate the roots from the cold.
