Connor points today to his friend at PurpleScarf expressing dismay at the resurgence of Newt Gingrich. Now, it is astonishing that the fellow still bothers with politics at all, and in a sane world he'd have long ago been put out to pasture (or possibly, in a nice padded room). However, the unstated implication running through Yglesias' recent (hillarious) review of the Republican candidates is that, should Newt run, there's every chance he could unite the Christian Right and take the nomination. After all, they loved him at CPAC, where last week he proved to be just the toxic, creepy, conservative superstar you remembered.
And if that happens, we might even carry Texas.

At this point in the race, all potential front-runners stink of "bad idea" to me.
I've a slightly higher opinion of Obama, but that is mostly because
A. He's articulate.
and
B. I've served him and his family at the Med.
Simmer down. He can't run nationallly. Not with marrying his high school biology teacher, two divorces, at least three extra-maritial affairs, and an lesbian sister (who vocally hates his guts). That last one might be the final nail in the coffin on that idea. The only wy Newt runs is if he finds a way to kill his sister or put her in a coma.
I have to admit, I'm not very worried that Newt would become president.
I do have to hope he tries.
The puking offer stands, however.
