Garfield Blows

I just saw a commercial for Garfield Chia Pets. What is most pathetic about this is that this does nothing to hurt the reputation of Garfield. In fact, it may even help it. That is a testament to the depths of which that particular comic strip blows.

For a while, I was considering creating my own comic strip, called "Still funnier than Garfield." It would be a three- or four-panel strip. Here's one idea for a comic: It's a picture of a person walking down an empty street. In every panel, the person is a little bit further down the street. Nothing else happens. "What? That's not funny," you might object. Yes, that is exactly the point. It is not funny at all, and yet it is infinitely funnier than Garfield. If you would like, I can add in a speech bubble that says "Blah blah blah blah Lasagna blah blah blah blah," because apparently to Garfield fans this sort of thing is hilarious. i guess you just don't get the joke. you see, garfield is funny, because he's a cat. that hates dogs. and has a weight problem. and eats lasagna. lasagna! oh, that's wacky. he thinks he's people!
maybe now you understand the complex humor and can join the rest of us.
i'm getting my friend a hippo chia-pet for christmas. back in high school when we took AP psych together, we tried to think of ways to remember what different parts of the brain did, and for hippocampus (which is something blah blah memory blah) we decided that the right phrase was, "hippos never forget!"
and then we gave each other nicknames by tacking "-potamus" onto the ends of our names.

and, on a "stupid americans!" note:
"lasagna" is singular. it means one lasagna noodle. literally, "la lasagna" is one big flat noodle.
"le lasagne" actually describes the food we order at olive garden. i think it would be really funny (because i'm really, truly a nerd) if when someone ordered lasagna at olive garden or wherever, they were brought one big flat noodle with sauce on it. to me, that would be a good joke. and show my considerable superiority over others. so really, the perfect joke.

I agree with Tim. Garfield is the stupidest comic strip ever! A fat cat who eat a lot is not funny. Also not funny or entertaining are the several posts on this blog about the English language and it complexities. Garfield humor does not take a superior intellect, Tim and I understand the attempt at humor, but it's not funny. We are two of the smartest guys around, despite any misuse of the english language in this post or any other post.

Uh, you people who think Garfield is the stupidest comic strip ever have obviously not been introduced to Fred Basset. Now, I don't think Garfield is funny, but Fred here is infinitely more unfunny.
