I agree that bitch and ass could be switched. Part of the uncertainty might be due to the fact that bitch has a few different senses, some more offensive than others. Also, I only recently realized that "bloody" was somewhat equivalent to more common American curses. I think that's because the only context I really ever heard the word "bloody" used is British comedy, and not when someone was genuinely upset. It is interesting to see where somebody with a bit more knowledge of such things places it on the offensive-o-meter. Also, I realized there is a male version of the c-word that is also quite offensive, maybe right below number 3.

Interesting to see this. A group of friends were having this discussion a number of weeks ago. We came to the conclusion the the word "CUNT" is only offensive in the United States. Why is that? We talked about how the word is utilized and expressed in other cuntries (oops) such as Britain. So after concluding that this really was just a case of a society and its perception of the word, we decided to run the argument past a number of different groups. We found that open-minded and free-thinking individuals (both men and women) are eager to accept the word as intended. Not as something vulgar and deplorable, but rather a friendly gesture of sarcasm and rancor. So start using the word and let our people know that CUNT isn't really a bad thing.

As far as motherfucker, I didn't include every possible derivative form, only base curse words, as a linguist might call them. Otherwise, the #1 would have to be something like Cunty McShitFuck
