Miller, you are a fantastic for putting this site together. But of course the real credit has to go to the wonder-boy Chris Samp for giving you the prophetic inspiration to set this site up. I am lucky to be the first to post on this site, but was even luckier to catch Chris Samp in action 2 weekends ago. To no surprise, he was quadruple covered almost the entire game. Did this bother SuperSamp? Heck no, he used the Hack-A-Samp defense to his advantage and got his fellow recievers open. When the 7 guys that they had rotated in and out to cover the him had grown weary in the 4th quarter the Hyper-Juggernaur Extreme slashed across the middle, caught a ten yard pass, and decided to break what must of been a hundred tackles on his 30 yard trek to the endzone. This caused a borderline pandemonium in the stands, as all the Samp groupies went into a #85 induced high. For me, I can only believe that Chris Samp will be the next great white pro reciever, following in the footsteps of Steve Largent and Jeff Query. Perhaps he can even accomplish the unaccomplishable...to be the first white non-quarterback to win the heisman since the great depression. My vote goes to Samp.
Forever in awe,
Craig
For the record, I would ask that when you visit the link to Samp's bio on the Winona State website, notice that Samp's total longest touchdown reception is 235 yards. How much greater can you be??? After initially scoring the first touchdown of 35 yards, Supersamp turned around and ran the length of the field twice before being stopped. No doubt he tripped on his dack or it would have been something like a 568 yard reception. What a machine!
Also, please note that Samp's bio page ironically has a link to athletic eligibility, a formality that the 24-year-old JUNIOR throws off like he is Bo Jackson battling Dana Butts in Tecmo Bowl 1.
Well, I don't have anything funny to say, plus, I couldn't beat Joynt's line of "...he is Bo Jackson battling Dana Butts in Tecmo Bowl".
Anyway, just wanted to show my support to Samp and this blog. Let's see if we can top three entries and prove once and for all there are more than three readers, Machut, Joynt and I.
DAD
We are making a trip to Winona this weekend just to watch Chris Samp play. Of course, you can say we are somewhat bias....we are family members, but we know we will see a great football game thanks to Chris.
Chriss Samp is the best player in college football and deserves the Heisman Trophy!
Posted by: Marlene Brath at October 15, 2004 8:14 AMI talked to his brother, Skyler, a few times and that connection among Chris and I has made me a better person.
Posted by: Pat at October 16, 2004 6:56 PMAfter Digging around, this was a great site to see.
Samp had one heck of a day against NSU. Way to go Chris!!!!
Posted by: Greg at October 18, 2004 11:07 AMHey, Chris is a great player. Few have seen him play as much as I have, and no one has written more about him than I have. But seriously, you guys are sick. He is the best receiver in D-II, but you think he could put the same numbers up in DI? I don't think so. And by the way, DII has a Heisman, it's called the Harlon Hill Trophy. And my vote will definitely be cast for Samp. Go Warriors! Ian
Posted by: Ian at October 18, 2004 11:16 AMHey, I just want to mention that Christopher is worthy of the heisman, harlon hill, or whatever DIII has for a trophy. No one has proved that they can compete with this guy. If Mr. Samp was at DI we probably would be talking about him with the likes of Mike Williams, and Braylon Edwards, just remember those two have DI talent around them. Heck it is a voting year and the two canidates haven't shown me much of anything, (Chris Samp for president).
Peace and God Bless!
somebody please tell Ian to shutup. He doesn't know what he is talking about. You write a lot about Chris Samp because he is so good. Its easy to write about someone who is godly in football. and please dont try and make it out like we don't know what the harlon hill trophy is so as to think that you are smarter than everyone else! i'm with the man upstairs and everyone else, except Ian. Go Bud! Make it to the playoffs!
Posted by: trev (samp's bro) at October 18, 2004 7:58 PMHey everyone,
Just so you know, I'm not anti-Samp. I think he's a great player, and I think he would be very good at the Division I level as well, but I don't think he would be AS dominant as he is now. So BACK OFF Trev!
Posted by: Ian at October 19, 2004 12:02 AMAfter Samp's last big day he is now:
2 in the nation in yards per game
1 in the nation in receiving TD's
23 in the nation in receptions per game

I see Chris Samp in action everyday and there is no other word that can describe his permances as the word godlike or superhuman. He in fact is SuperSamp and can't be stopped. He is my idol and I also tend to look at him as a father figure. Even though he is an unstoppable force on the field, he also has a kind and gentle soul. God bless you Chris, you've changed my life.
Posted by: The China Cabinet at October 20, 2004 9:59 PMI had the opportunity to see Chris (Bud) play at the homecoming game this year and he did an awesome job. Yes, he definitely is deserving of the Heisman Trophy. Looking forward to the game at the metrodome. Can't wait to watch you play in the big league games (free tickets for your favorite aunt and uncle, right?) Good luck the rest of the season, Bud. Tracy and Mike
Posted by: Aunt Tracy at October 20, 2004 10:38 PMAlthough I haven't witnessed every year of Chris's outstanding accomplishments in his football career, I find it quite obvious that he not only has great potential and talent, but he also has heart and soul in playing football at WSU. He has shown the University, the community of Winona, and every person involved in DII football that he can make it all the way in achieving his dream of playing in the NFL. Chris has my total support and I wish him the best of luck in leading the team into the playoffs.
Posted by: Pam at October 21, 2004 1:13 AMI just wanted to say congratulations to Samp on an excellent season thus far. I take a large ammount of pride in seeing him succeed considering the fact that i taught him everything he knows about football and life. Good luck the rest of the season, but we still have a lot of work to do.
Posted by: Hynes at October 21, 2004 2:11 PMHynes,
Just remember, Howard and I taught you everything you know about football so we will take credit for Samp also. GO WARRIORS!!!! S.F.H. (SAMP FOR HEISMAN)
Posted by: Braatz at October 21, 2004 8:35 PMOut here in the east(Philadelphia) word is the Maxwell Club actually has Brian Hynes as a top candidate for their prestigous award and as everyone on the inside knows, the Maxwell is the real award!
thank you hank. it will be a close race between samp and i, but i think samp has the edge in the tiebreaker: bicep and eyeball size. as everyone knows samp leads the conference in both of these and i don't see anyone coming close to him in either of these categories. i should hang up my cleats until he retires because there is no point of playing if you aren't going to be #1. god bless samp and the warriors.
Posted by: Hynes at October 27, 2004 2:10 PMSamp is so good, he is even a D2 Pro Hopeful! Hes upa against the likes of other nations, such as Jamaica. Go SAMP
Posted by: Stan at October 27, 2004 10:10 PMI am a diehard DIII football fan. Never would've considered following a DII team. Until Samp and Winona State came along. This website promotes Samp for the big HT and I agree...so WAKE UP AMERICA and "come together" to cross these divisional lines. VOTE Samp for H.T.
Christopher has acheived levels of greatness that are unattainable by the common people of our world. Recently, he has been seen walking on top the water of the Great Mississippi River carrying what looked to be animals of various sorts, saving them from possible drowndination in the ever so rising river. Christopher's actions have put him in a class above all. He, now more than ever, is comparable to the pioneer of the arch.NOAH. Way to go Chris, you have my vote.
Posted by: TheSaint at November 11, 2004 7:15 AMSamp, sorry I missed the performance last weekend of the guy that wrecked you on the one yard line. I heard he was the worst player in that teams illustrious history. Congrats though on a wonderful season and good luck on getting to the playoffs. I hope you guys run the table. Thanks Tim for putting up this kick-ass site too. And Samp.....try to catch a touchdown every other catch instead of every third. Let's see some effort!
Posted by: Reuter at November 12, 2004 3:58 PMSamp not only redefines the way opposing defenses prepare, but also clothing designers. No shirt can contain the bulging biceps of the magnificent Chris Samp. If you don't believe just take a look at the man as he wears a Superman t-shirt or an Abercrombie polo. I heard he can only wear a shirt once and then Beau Dickey has to cut the sleeves in order for Chris to remove the shirt. If these allegations are true, Samp has purchased roughly 3,000 Superman t-shirts, thus single handidly keeping the Superman franchise afloat. In a year where no D1 football players have seperated themselves from the pack, the Sports writers and past winners on the Heisman committee need to dig into the D2 talent pool and find the greatest collegiate football player of our generation...Mr. Chris "Superman" Samp.
Posted by: Scrubs at November 23, 2004 2:30 PMI remember the fall of 1999, it was the first semester of my (and Chris's) freshman year at Winona State. Every evening I would see a young stud horse defining his pecks on cable machine in the Prentiss weight room. I stould in amazement, not knowing that the chizzled young man that Michaelangelo himself couldn't have sculpted, would become the greates wide reciever ever to play the game of football. Anyway, it's funny how we both started college in 1999 and Chris is still playing. He may be the best, but he still isn't the oldest. Remember there is that old bastard on the South Carolina team.
I just wanted to wish Chris all the luck with the draft coming up this weekend. It was fun watching you these past few years, and I hope you're extremely sucessful in years to come! We'll be cheering for ya wherever you are! GOOD LUCK!!
Posted by: Katie Kramer at April 21, 2005 1:52 PMIt is my understanding that after two puffs of black smoke in Vatican City and the election of Pope Benedict, Samp was officially eligible for the NFL draft.
Posted by: Cherry at April 23, 2005 2:02 PMCame to the site after the signing with the Packers. Good site. Keep it up through training camp and season. You may want to change it to MVP now.
Posted by: draco at April 25, 2005 9:13 PMWill someone please tell Christopher Samp that I said congratulations on his contract with the Packers!?!?! I knew I was going to be sad to miss two Packer seasons (I am in Guatemala - Peace Corps Volunteer) but now I am depressed. I am going to be bragging to all of the Guats with my broken Spanish about him! Tim, this is a great website, I wish I had known about it earlier! Erica told me about it today. I hope you are doing well, I will never forget our night out in Minn. with our homosexual friends!
Posted by: Shana Defnet at April 26, 2005 11:23 AMIf Chris Samp played played in a real conference I would give him some respect. The fact of the matter is he set all these records while playing in the NSIC, which is not much better than DIII ball. You can't sit here and argue that UMC, SWS, BSU, WS or any other shit team in that conference could hold a flame to any NCC or DIII Wisconsin team. I am sorry Chris Samp is an average player who played against horse shit competition, so he looks good compared to horse shit who cares. The Packers will cut him in a week.
Posted by: Digger at April 29, 2005 10:37 AMAre there any quotes from Samp on this site. I mean he must have some amazing stories or somethng.

Posted by: Barnaby Walsh at August 8, 2005 11:52 AMThis site needs to be updated!!!!!
Chris Samp is now a member of the World Famous Philadelphia Eagles, 4 time NFC Champions.
Here is part of a message board post written by the mother of a young boy with Spinal Bifida:
"There was a woman working on the field on Sunday, August 7th who allowed John to carry Chris Samp’s equipment back to the building where the team held their meetings. I’m sorry I didn’t get your name but you know who you are and I thank you from the bottom of my heart.
Chris Samp we owe you a very special thank you for pushing John’s wheelchair down the field so he could carry your equipment. He tells everyone that an actual Eagle pushed his wheelchair down the field. What an honor he felt that was. Thank you also for stopping by and saying Hello when you saw him there."
So, he is not only a great wide receiver, but a great human being. You can read he whole post here: http://boards.philadelphiaeagles.com/index.php?showtopic=274804
CHRIS SAMP...The Legend Grows!--------------------
I have to tell you that I "Didn't" believe the hype! Or let me say, my "Five Senses" would not allow me to believe the Marathon account, and the other superlative laced deeds attributed to Chris Samp. After the Philadelphia Eagles signed him from Green Bay, I figured him to be in Eagle's camp just long enough to deliver a couple of pizzas and wash the water boy's truck.
Then, his very first day at camp, fans noticed a rather large receiver wearing an 84 Jersey, with no number who caught EVERY pass thrown to him. Some of the guys started calling him "No Name" whenever he graciously volunteered to get water for one of the thirsty veterans. It turns out this Samp guy was so modest that he didn't even want his name on his uniform because he felt it would attract attention to an individual player and away from the "team" concept.
That's not all; Once the Eagles begin to "grasp" the extraordinary talent that had fallen into their laps they begin to play "Hardball" with a certain receiver with considerable notoriety. Word has it that during lunch that fateful Wednesday, this Receiver "O" had accused his Offensive Coordinator of "Stealing his Brownie"...No one noticed that the Head Coach was "sheepishly" sneaking out the side entrance when all of a sudden C. Samp boldly confronted the aggressive WR and sent him out of camp for a week. Ever the empathetic one, Mr. Samp then asked to be placed on waivers himself for a few days as a smoke screen to diffuse the situation...It wasn't very long however, that the Head Coach came calling because regular training camp followers were demanding that C. Samp be rightfully returned to fulfill his signature rotation for his newfound legion of fans. And now "The Catch" in Last night's premature exposure to the a National T.V. audience was risky to be sure, the Eagles have engaged in a massive coverup campaign in an attempt to preserve the anonymity for their wonderfully talented future Super Star.

Posted by: Aaron Rodgers at August 22, 2005 11:56 AMI am one of those maniacal Eagles' fans. 37 years ago when I decided to learn football rather than becoming a Sunday football widow, I was hooked. Now my husband says he created a monster. I first saw Chris Samp at training camp and felt sorry for him because he had no name on his jersey. The kids next to us began chanting, "Hi Mr. No Name". We took an instant liking to Mr. No Name and not only because of his amazing blue eyes and handsome good looks. Then we saw the 67-yard pass play during the preseason game. We felt like proud parents! Mr. No Name finally had a name on his jersey and was noticed by the team, the fans, the sportswriters and the TV announcers. We now watch for him during every preseason game, forgetting completely about our beloved Hugh Douglas and Jeremiah Trotter. We will consider ourselves, as fans, extremely fortunate if Chris Samp becomes a permanent Eagle. Good Luck, Chris!! We're rooting for you.

Even though Chris was cut by the Eagles, he was recently just signed by Pittsburgh to be on their practice squad. He was passing out Steelers hats at WSU's most recent game.
Posted by: Brad at September 4, 2005 10:29 PMLabor Day, September 25, 2005-a day that will be remembered forever by diehard Steeler faithful.
I am one of those Steeler faithful. When I was looking through the website KFFL to find out who the Steelers added to their practice squad, I was hoping to see 4th round draft pick WR Fred Gibson. However, the Miami Dolphins claimed him off waivers before the Steelers had a chance. At the time, I was disappointed..but would soon learn it was really a blessing in disguise. All of the 2005 practice squad members were in the Steelers training camp...except one. Chris Samp. I have to admit, at first I was hesistant and perhaps even perplexed as to who this Chris Samp guy was. Then I remembered back to the first preseason game of the season against the Eagles. There was a young standout widereceiver who single handedly almost brought the Eagles back from the depths of a blowout. His name..Chris Samp. Wow, how did the Steelers get so lucky?! Were the Eagles so blinded by the drama queen TO that they missed the shining jewel they had right beneath their noses?! I'm not sure why or how, and I don't even care at this point. All I know is that future first ballot hall of famer Chris Samp is in the Black and Gold and that's good enough for me. Fred who?!
Posted by: Jeff at September 5, 2005 10:03 PMYeah Samp!
I am so proud of you! The Steelers have no idea what a huge asset you will be to their team! I can't wait to see you play again on national t.v.! Way to go!

Posted by: Tim at October 24, 2005 1:26 PMWell, Samp has now caught on with the Panthers. The NFL will never be able to get rid of this guy.
Posted by: Brad at January 3, 2006 1:11 AMI met him yesterday as he visited an amateur youth team in Dusseldorf, Germany. He plays for the Rhein Fire and quickly turned into their top receiver and go-to-guy.
He was really cool, supporting the kids, giving them high fives after every catch, run and block. Just a great guy. I hope he makes it to the league and becomes Mr. Incredible during the 2006 season. .
