from the ProQuest listserv on 10/10/08:
This weekend, ProQuest will launch a newly enhanced website designed to provide a first-class user experience for librarians and researchers. Beyond offering a fresh new look, it will provide you with new ways to search and browse product information and access products, as well as the new 24/7 ProQuest Support Center. In brief, the new ProQuest.com offers more reasons you'll want to "Start here."
The dynamic site improvements include:
- New, simplified site organization, enhancing discovery of the full range of ProQuest products and services. Access information you need to make the most of your ProQuest products or learn more about new ones. Now includes information about leading CSA research tools such as CSA Sociological Abstracts, CSA Environmental Sciences and Pollution Management Database, and CSA Technology Research Database as well as award-winning products from ProQuest, Chadwyck-Healey, UMI Dissertations and Microform, HeritageQuest, eLibrary, and SIRS product lines.
- Robust new site search, for more paths to information and the power to quickly identify the right solutions for your needs. You can also conduct a more refined search by subject, your library type, or product name. Or filter search results by key criteria to get right to the content you want.
- Direct links page that simplifies access to ProQuest products. A new "Begin your research" button reveals this page that will help direct researchers to your information resources and make it easier to access leading solutions such as ABI/INFORM, ProQuest Central, ProQuest Dissertations and Theses, ProQuest Historical Newspapers, British Periodicals, PAIS International, HeritageQuest Online, and eLibrary.
- New ProQuest Support Center, for a wealth of self-serve content and capabilities. In addition to seamless searching and browsing of our support library, it offers FAQs for quick answers to common questions, a Problem Solver decision tree for step-by-step diagnoses and fixes, and easy access to our technical support contacts for more complex issues.
The new site brings together information about all of the ProQuest brands, and it offers in-depth information on the ProQuest Content Collections. Specific information on solutions from Dialog, Serials Solutions, RefWorks and COS still resides at those respective sites. Regarding bookmarks, please note that we have tried to ensure that all of the most commonly used areas of the site maintain their original links but you might need to update the bookmarks for a few of your favorite areas.
Our new website will be organic, adapting over time to meet your changing needs. We encourage you to use the site feedback form to ask questions, report problems, or send us comments. We'd love to hear what you think!
