The Center for Research Libraries (CRL) conducted a preservation audit of Portico between April and October 2009 and certifies Portico as a trustworthy digital repository.

Gale, part of Cengage Learning, and Portico, part of the not-for-profit organization ITHAKA, announced today an agreement in which Portico will digitally preserve archival versions of a number of the Gale Digital Collections.

Dear Colleagues,

Exclusive deals between publishers and other aggregators have affected the status of two important news files in LexisNexis Academic.

First, effective immediately, full-text coverage of the Boston Globe is no longer available in LexisNexis Academic. We continue to have a selected full-text version of this paper.

Second, as you may have heard, Time, Inc. has recently signed an exclusive licensing arrangement. LexisNexis Academic currently has 6 months of rolling coverage for Time Inc. publications, including Fortune, People, Sports Illustrated, and Time. We do not know how this will affect us, but it is likely that these publications will have to be removed from LexisNexis Academic at the end of our current contract with the publisher. We will keep you updated on the situation. As of right now, Time, Inc. publications are still in LexisNexis Academic.

The American Psychological Association is pleased to invite you to attend a PsycINFO Webinar. This 1-hour Advanced Training session will detail the coverage and selection practices, the structure of database records, and annual reloads. The session reviews the structure of PsycINFO records, covering the elements of the bibliographic citation, controlled vocabulary and indexing, and value-added fields, such as author affiliation, grant/sponsorship, and tests and measures. Sample searches will demonstrate searching using the online thesaurus, author and journal indexes, natural language or keywords, and fields and limits.

We'll compile a list, visit them on the exhibit floor--if they are attending, and report on what we've found.

Minitex is delighted to announce the release of our FY08 - 09 report on AskMN: The Librarian Is In!, Minnesota's statewide digital reference service. AskMN is funded by Minitex with appropriations from the Minnesota Legislature and is staffed by participating libraries and Minitex.

The report summarizes who is asking questions, who is answering them, what time of day questions are being asked, the reach of our libraries to Minnesota residents, and how satisfied patrons were with AskMN: The Librarian Is In!

Participating public libraries include: Dakota County Library, Hennepin County Library, Rochester Public Library, St. Paul Public Library, and Washington County Library. Lake Agassiz Regional Library joined in the beginning of FY10 (July 2009). Academic libraries participating in the service are: St. Catherine University, Joint Libraries of the College of St. Benedict/St. John's University, Macalester College, Minnesota State University, Mankato, St. Cloud State University, University of Minnesota - Duluth, and University of Minnesota - Twin Cities. Minitex Reference Services staff provide administrative and reference support.
