EBSCO A-to-Z® Maintenance on 28 February 2010

EBSCO A-to-Z® will undergo maintenance on Sunday, 28 February 2010 from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 p.m. Eastern Time (28 February 2010 at 14:00 - 1 March 2010 at 04:00 GMT). Both the A-to-Z Administrator and Reader sites will remain available. During this maintenance, some users may experience interruptions in retrieving search results for custom resources on the Reader site. Using "begins with" or "exact match" searches will help to retrieve results.

EBSCO A-to-Z® Enhancements Postponed

The enhancements to A-to-Z's display of E-Journals purchased through EBSCO and OpenURL linking scheduled to be released on 21 February 2010 have been postponed. We have decided to perform additional testing on these features to ensure you receive the highest quality product. We will distribute an announcement with the new release date once this review is completed. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

Project MUSE Supports SUSHI

Project MUSE is very pleased to announce that your MUSE usage statistics may now be accessed via the SUSHI protocol. The SUSHI protocol simplifies the process of gathering usage statistics by providing an automatic exchange between your institution's computer system and Project MUSE. SUSHI stands for "standardized usage statistics harvesting initiative."

Before SUSHI capability in MUSE, subscribers needed to manually request their COUNTER compliant usage statistics each month from the MUSE statistics page. Now, subscribing institutions can set up the monthly access using SUSHI.

For details on how to set up the SUSHI connection, go to the MUSE usage statistics page, http://stats.muse.jhu.edu. Log in using your MUSE usage statistics login and password. Once you have logged in to your institution's page, look for the section "Parameters required to access statistics via the SUSHI protocol". There you will find the destination URL, your institution's reference ID and requestor ID needed to set up the connection.

On 14 February 2010, EBSCO will introduce two key enhancements to EBSCO A-to-Z®:

E-Journals Purchased through EBSCO Now Display Under Vendor and Package

In the past, e-journals purchased through EBSCO were displayed as a part of the "E-Journals from EBSCO" package within the A-to-Z Administrator site Collection Editor and Title Wizard, as well as on the A-to-Z Reader site. For example, the SAGE Publications title "American Politics Quarterly"(which is ordered through EBSCO) would display on A-to-Z as part of the "E-Journals from EBSCO"package.

Now, individual e-journals and e-journals in publisher packages purchased through EBSCO will be listed on the A-to-Z Administrator and Reader sites in the context of the appropriate publisher offering as represented in the A-to-Z knowledge base. In the example above, "American Politics Quarterly" would be displayed under the vendor SAGE and in the appropriate e-journal package on both the Administrator and Reader sites.

Ovid Web Gateway Stats Tool Retiring February 18th

Ovid Web Gateway Stats will be retired on Thursday, February 18, 2010. The Ovid Web Gateway Stats link will be removed from the Admin Tool on this date.

Going forward, you will have access to all of your Ovid subscription usage statistics through the OvidSP WebStats tool introduced in the spring of 2008. An improved, intuitive reporting tool, OvidSP WebStats includes COUNTER compliant reports, which means they conform to the highest industry standards set forth by COUNTER, a highly respected international organization that sets standards on the recording and reporting of online usage statistics.

If you are new to using OvidSP Webstats, please sign up for one of our OvidSP WebStats training sessions.
