It has now been ten years since Oxford University Press launched Oxford Reference Online and the Oxford Digital Reference Shelf and started to build on this cornerstone of our reference publishing online. Today these services offer a compendium of authoritative content: more than 1.5 million facts and definitions from a diverse range of trusted Oxford reference titles, with the ability to enhance the collection by purchasing award-winning Digital Reference Shelf titles from Oxford and partner publishers.
In the last ten years, there have been remarkable changes in the number, style, and functionality of online reference sites, and in April 2012 we are taking the opportunity to make some major changes - based throughout on your feedback, as users of the service.
In April 2012 all online reference content that is currently available on Oxford Reference Online and the Oxford Digital Reference Shelf will be seamlessly integrated on the new Oxford Reference site as Oxford Quick Referenceand Oxford Reference Library. Based on what you've told us, we have given the new service a fresh, modern look and feel, and focused on improving ways for people to find and use the content. With new overviews, timelines, a! nd linking helping to streamline your journey from the open web to the best information, Oxford Reference will be the definitive gateway to Oxford's trustworthy reference publishing.
There will also be new options for you to shape and customize your collection. We will work with you to make the transition as easy as possible - transferring your existing credentials to the new service, and continuing to run the old Oxford Reference Online and Oxford Digital Reference Shelf sites alongside the new Oxford Reference site for a transitional period until June 2012.
