Kurt Bills for U.S. Senate

Kurt Bills for U.S. Senate campaign interns will get a first class view of what it's like to be part of a busy, statewide campaign right in the heart of election season. Interns can expect to participate in a wide variety of tasks including: conducting research, initiating/responding to and following up with supporters, assisting with planning and execution of campaign events and more.

Required skills

Experience: No previous campaign experience is required, but intern candidate must have basic knowledge of the political system, and have an interest in MN politics.

Transportation: Interns MUST have their own transportation or their own way to get to and from the campaign headquarters and events. The campaign will not provide you with a ride to work.

With races for Congress, Senate and President here in Minnesota in 2012, this is a great opportunity to learn about the political process and help make a real difference in our area - and get involved in the early stages of an aggressive political campaign in the battleground state of Minnesota!

Interns will have significant opportunities to work with senior staff and interaction with the candidate.

This is an UNPAID internship. We are also up for writing letters of recommendation for your time at the campaign as compensation.

If you would like to learn valuable campaign skills and more about MN GOP politics, this is the internship for you. We allow flexible hours, which include full or part time opportunities. We would love if you could start immediately.

Desirable skills

The campaign is looking for young, smart, enthusiastic individuals to join our team!

Interested applicants should send a resume and cover letter to Tim@KurtBills.com or call (651) 356-2455 for more details.

How Do You Use Your Strengths?

The Office for Student Engagement is launching a campaign called 34 in 34: Strengths in Action that will highlight one of the 34 StrengthsFinder® Talent Themes every week for 34 weeks. The goal is to help bring awareness to the strengths initiative, to provide examples of how people are applying their strengths, and to give helpful tips on how others can harness their own strengths. Each week we want to tell the story of a student as well as a faculty member, staff member, alum, or employer about how they use a particular strength to be successful.

To make this campaign successful we need your help--we would like to feature you in the campaign! All you need to do is:

1.) Answer two or more of the questions below and email your responses to: strengths@umn.edu.
2.) Email us a picture of yourself (strengths@umn.edu)! If you would like us to take a picture of you instead of submitting one of your own, please let us know.
3.) Give us permission to use the text and photo in our campaign (by submitting your responses you are consenting for us to use them). If you would rather have a conversation instead of submitting responses over email, let us know and we will set up a phone call.

Please submit your responses by Friday, August 17th.

Please choose one of your Top Five Talent Themes to answer two or more of the questions below.

Strength:

Explain this strength in your own words (1-2 sentences):
What does this strength enable you to do well?
What is the benefit of having this strength?
How do you feel when you use this strength?
Give an example of how you use this strength to be successful in school/work:
Give an example of how you use this strength in a hobby/activity:
How do you plan to apply this strength in the future?
How does your organization or program use StrengthsQuest?
