David Rothenberger, M.D., an internationally recognized leader in American surgery, became head of the Medical School’s Department of Surgery October 1. He currently holds the John P. Delaney Chair of Clinical Surgical Oncology and has been deputy chairman of the department since 2006.
Rothenberger also is founder and codirector of the Emerging Physician Leaders Program at the Medical School, which fosters collaboration and develops skills among faculty from all departments.
“David Rothenberger brings a wealth of experience to this role, as well as an appreciation for how the Medical School can help shape the future of health care education and delivery,” says Aaron Friedman, M.D., Medical School dean.
Rothenberger says he hopes to continue finding ways to encourage collaboration and develop interdisciplinary teams to improve care.
