While the past decade has brought improvements in the nutritional quality of school meals and foods outside of school meal programs, there is still drastic need for improvement. That’s according to the results of a national study reported in the Journal of the American Dietetic Association.
In the journal, findings are presented from the third School Nutrition Dietary Assessment (SNDA-III) study, the most comprehensive assessment of foods available in schools sponsored by the U.S. Department of Agriculture. The analysis includes the National School Lunch Program, the School Breakfast Program, and other foods and beverages available during the school day.
