Settling into our new home
Two months after our patients, physicians, and staff moved into their brand-new University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital, it’s starting to feel more like home. Children and their families are loving the special technologies and amenities of the large, private Adopt A Rooms, while caregivers are enjoying the “off-stage” parts of the hospital that provide a place for them to work without disturbing patients.
Check out this online scrapbook of our moving day for a glimpse into the process and planning behind moving an entire hospital.

Third annual golf event raises nearly $150,000
Many thanks to our players, celebrities, and lead sponsors KFAN and Kraus Anderson for participating in the Champions for Children Golf Classic on June 20 at Windsong Farm Golf Club. Hosted by Minnesota Vikings player Steve Hutchinson, this year’s event raised nearly $150,000 to support our hospital’s Adopt A Room program. Check out photos of our celebrity golfers and their teams on Facebook. Watch for more information about next June’s tournament.
Twins greats visit Amplatz Children’s Hospital
Minnesota Twins legends Tony Oliva and Rod Carew—along with mascot TC Bear—spent the morning of June 14 at University of Minnesota’s Amplatz Children’s Hospital for part of Minnesota Twins Hope Week, an effort by the entire Twins organization to reach out to the Twins Territory community. The trio spread cheer to many patients and families, giving hugs, signing autographs, and posing for photos.
Thank you for supporting WineFest No. 16—A Toast to Children’s Health
WineFest No. 16 showcased international luminaries in the wine industry and celebrated our world-renowned University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital. The event raised more than $800,000 and marked the 25th anniversary of our first-of-its-kind International Adoption Clinic. Take a moment to watch a video about this important clinic.
WineFest No. 16 helped us to surpass $9 million in support for children’s health research, education, and care at the University since the event’s inception.
Mark your calendars for WineFest No. 17—A Toast to Children’s Health on May 11 and 12, 2012!
