While Lizzie Bell, 19, recovered from a blood and marrow transplant this summer, she turned her Adopt A Room in University of Minnesota Amplatz Children’s Hospital into her personal photo editing suite. She connected her laptop to the room’s large TV screens to make sure each frame looked just right. And when she needed inspiration, she adjusted the light scheme in her room, which had been adopted by John and Nancy Lindahl, or raised the shades via her bedside console.
Distraction is a great way to promote healing, and the amenities in Adopt A Rooms certainly contribute to that goal. There are still many rooms—and patients—at Amplatz Children’s Hospital to benefit from Adopt A Room upgrades. Find out how you can help at uofmhope.org.
