The University of Minnesota Extension Center for Youth Development's Youth Work Institute has been an important educational resource for youth-serving organizations in Minnesota. Over the next year we will undergo an organizational transition in order to focus our training and professional development opportunities to serve youth work practitioners and organizations across the state. Our future work will include the delivery of:
- Public symposia, regional conferences, and online classes to deepen youth work practice and to support the development of emerging leaders
- Contracted training and coaching designed to improve program quality across systems and organizations
Many of you are probably familiar with our calendar of public classes posted on our website and in our brochure. Our currently scheduled public classes will be delivered through May 2013. After that time, professional development and training can be accessed through contracts with partners, organizations, networks, systems, funders and grantees, and by individual youth workers through regional learning conferences which will be scheduled periodically throughout the year, online learning, and symposia.
A new schedule of public offerings will be posted on our website by August 2013. In regard to our contract work, organizations are welcomed to contact us directly to inquire about customized training and coaching. More information on our contracted work will also be made available on our website this summer.
Our brand will also be changed as a result of this transition. We will use the University of Minnesota Extension brand for our work. The Youth Work Institute brand will be phased out. We look forward to working with you in the future as an educational resource for your training and professional development needs.
