News From Around the Libraries

TEL Council Update
The campus Technology Enhanced Learning (TEL) Council, with Libraries representation by Scott Spicer, has this year focused discussion on a variety of case studies and initiatives designed to increase development capacity, dissemination, and quality of innovative eLearning.  The Office of the Vice Provost for Distributed Education and Instructional Technology, in partnership with the Office of Information Technology (OIT) and other campus support units (i.e., the Libraries), has developed programming to lead in coordinating some of this activity.  Examples of these services include the Quality Matters certification program and the Learning (Mostly) Online faculty development workshop.  If you have questions or suggestions for the TEL Council, contact Scott Spicer at: spic0016@umn.edu .  For more information about eLearning support for faculty and academic unit programs, go to: http://www.elearning.umn.edu/ .

Staff Tidings and Kudos

Changes in Computer Support
The Computer Support department welcomes our new student technician, Jessica Katz.  Jessica is a senior-transfer majoring in Art History with a minor in Design Studies.  She also spent time at the University of Wisconsin Tech Store as an Information Technology (IT) Consultant helping students, staff, and faculty with their technology needs.

Computer Support had to say goodbye to one of their student workers, Josh Wolanin.  Josh accepted a full-time position in IT support for the McNamara Alumni Center.  We wish him the best of luck.
