News From Around the Libraries

Applications Being Accepted For 2013 Core Leadership: Individual Development Program
After a highly successful first round of the Libraries' Core Leadership: Individual Development Program,  we are offering staff an opportunity to apply to be part of a new cohort to begin in January 2013.  All Libraries and Minitex staff members are welcome to apply.

Successful candidates may have already demonstrated success as leaders in the Libraries or may have demonstrated their potential for leadership by engaging in the Libraries in ways that extend them beyond their positions or by consistently influencing committees, departments, or units in active and impactful ways.

Candidates should submit a one-page or less statement to their supervisor by November 11, 2012, addressing the following questions:
1. Why are you interested in participating?
2. What do you hope to gain from participating?
3. How do you hope the Libraries will benefit from your participation?

If you would like to learn more and were not able to see the video debut about the program shown at the last Assembly, you may view it at: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JBN3Yq7Q_Zk or read more about the program at: https://docs.google.com/a/umn.edu/document/d/1dTaDWr9PYZWIU-yeq949tfmJHVw7A7-TrLkhuRKT5Gs/edit?hl=en_US .

Libraries' Learning and Development Fund Update
As you many know, every staff member in the University Libraries is welcome to request up to $150 for a training or development opportunity from a central fund administered by the Organization Development (OD) Division of the Libraries.

OD recently reported to the Libraries Leadership Committee (LLC) that 26% of Libraries staff are using this fund.  There is more capacity to support you and your learning and development needs.  Please do not hesitate to request funds at: http://wiki.lib.umn.edu/SEDP/FundingRequestPolicy.html .  Libraries managers and directors are also urged to explore and encourage ideas for learning and development for their staff.  Jerilyn Veldof and Jan Roseen are available to assist with this.
