Plant Has Sense of Smell

I read an article about how some plants, such as the dodder, have the ability to smell and likes tomatoes over wheat. I had no idea what a dodder was, so after researching, I found that it was a parasite that has to attach to a host within a few days of germinating or they die. Typical hosts include alfalfa, potatoes, and flax, and the dodder is extremely hard to control and get rid of. Researchers have found that the plants produce chemicals that travel in the air, and this same technique is used by insects to allow them to locate food. They also found that wheat has a natural repellent that makes the dodder like the tomatoes more than wheat.
