The University of Minnesota School of Music's October and November featured event highlights include University Singers Fall Concert: The Music of Jeffrey Van (11/12), 49th Annual Marching Band Indoor Concert (11/13&14), Faculty Recital: Alexander Fiterstein, clarinet and Timothy Lovelace, piano (11/15), A Conversation with Carter Pann and Frank Ticheli (11/18), University Opera Theatre's Minnesota premiere of Robert Aldridge's Elmer Gantry (11/18-21), and Jazz Ensemble I opening for the JazzMN Orchestra (11/20).

The U of M School of Music presents its 10th Anniversary Collage Concert, an annual ensemble concert with more than 400 students and faculty performing in a non-stop, surround-sound, musical extravaganza on Saturday, October 16 at 7:30 pm at Ted Mann Concert Hall (2128 4th St. S., Minneapolis). This year's concert program will honor University of Minnesota president Robert H. Bruininks and his wife Dr. Susan Hagstrum for their service to the University and their abiding support of the School of Music. Tickets are $16 for adults and $11 children and for University of Minnesota Students, faculty, staff, retirees, and alumni. General admission seating. Listen to the October 13 SOM Fall Convocation Keynote Speaker, Paul Phoenix, in conversation with Minnesota Public Radio Classical host Alison Young on the MPR website.

The topic of Phoenix's keynote address is ""Engaging Audience and Community: A King's Singer's Perspective." Phoenix is a tenor with the world renowned King's Singers.
