CLA: School of Music News

The U of M School of Music is pleased to announce the 2011 Craig and Janet Swan Composer Prize, a national competition for new works for wind ensemble. The 2010 Craig and Janet Swan Composer Prize for Mixed Chorus was awarded to Zvonimir Nagy for his work Cantus Jubilus. Guidelines and an application for the competition are available on the School of Music website. The deadline for submissions is Thursday, June 30, 2011. Read more.

The U of M School of Music and the Encore Wind Ensemble's Festival of Community Bands, scheduled for Saturday, April 30, is featured in Kim Ode's article "Community bands offer fellowship of music" in the Star Tribune. School of Music professor Jerry Luckhardt is organizing the festival. School of Music conducting student Christina Chen-Beyers is also featured in the article and online slideshow.
