Faculty member Adriana Zabala reviewed for "Marriage of Figaro"

Zabala-MarriageOfFigaro.jpgAdriana Zabala (voice) performed the role of Cherubino in The Marriage of Figaro with Florentine Opera in Milwaukee. It was her debut role with the company. The show received a favorable review from the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel in Elaine Schmidt's article "Singing, acting both stellar in 'Figaro'." Schmidt writes, "Adriana Zabala brought warmth and presence to both her mezzo-soprano sound and the Cherubino 'pants' role." Zabala was interviewed by Tom Strini in his Third Coast Daily article, "Florentine Friends: Soprano Jamie-Rose Guarrine, Mezzo Adriana Zabala." Read the interview.

Student Kelley Sundin leads lecture and concert

SundinKelley.pngKelley Sundin (M.M. candidate, choral conducting) will conduct a small chamber group and lead a lecture on her M.M. thesis and summer research fellowship in Estonian Choral Music for the Female Voice: Dissemination of a Culture, Traditions, and Stories. Five performance editions of Estonian choral music will be shared, with cultural and historical context to provide a lens for the listener to better understand a nation and people. The event will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 5 p.m. in Ferguson Hall, room 90. This is the final portion of the Immigration History Research Center's Estonian Archive and Research Symposium.
