CORO! Auditions for 2014-15 Season

CORO! (www.corosings.org) is looking for singers for its 2014-15 season.

Singers studying for Operatic careers, this is the place to get more experience, singing choruses, solos and ensembles with 'an ensemble of vocal soloists.'

Now in its eighth season, CORO! provides its vocal members the opportunity to perform solos, duets, small and full ensembles from Classical, Opera, Operetta and the Lyric Stage Reportoire.

Two arias/art songs in contrasting styles and languages are needed.
An accompanist is provided (for a small fee).

CORO! usually rehearses on Tuesday evenings from 7 to 9:45. Please be prepared to give us your conflicts for rehearsals.

Plans include a Christmas Concert in December, our recital series, and a Slavic Tapestry program in late April.

Internships at the Walker Art Center

The Performing Arts Department at the Walker Art Center is a world renowned program presenting contemporary dance, music, and theater performances that resonate with local and national audiences. Our ambitious Performing Arts programming includes some of the most innovative and provocative artists in the world of contemporary performing arts. We have two internships that correspond with the school year. Applications are due by Friday, September 5 or whenever the positions are filled.

Program Notes Internship
The Program Notes Internship is a hands-on, administrative position for an individual interested in writing, conducting research, gathering performance information, learning more about nonprofit arts organizations, and assisting Walker staff with a variety of administrative tasks related to the current needs of a busy presenting department. This internship also provides the opportunity to develop specific skills based on the intern's interests and background in arts administration.

Responsibilities:
· Individuals in this role will format, edit, and print performance program notes as well as research and write about performances, artists, and other Walker-related events.
· S/he will work closely with performing arts department, other Walker staff, artists, and artists' managers to produce programs that are informative and accurate, containing both biographical and contextual materials.
·Develop content related to programming (including blogging and research) and performing administrative tasks including archiving, file management, data entry, and other duties as necessary.

Hours and Duration:
· Individual should be able to work 12 hours per week minimum;
· Must have TUESDAY OR WEDNESDAY 10am-5pm availability, other days/hours flexible.
· Duration of this internship is September 2014 - May 2015.

Qualifications:
· Applicant must have a strong working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with Adobe InDesign is highly desirable, including some experience with page layout and design.
· Applicants should have a degree or current enrollment in arts, administration, writing, or a performance-related program and/or a deep interest and involvement in the arts and audience engagement.
· Top applicants will have strong research, writing, and editing skills, an eye for detail and design, and the ability to manage multiple projects with high accuracy and follow through. Some professional office experience preferred.
· Must be able to lift 30lbs and have a valid driver's license.

Compensation: This is an unpaid internship that offers the opportunity to gain practical experience, to meet and work alongside talented individuals and to help to support some incredible programming. Walker also provides a one-year Walker membership, comp tickets to Walker events as available, and employee discounts at the restaurants and Shop.

Research Internship
The Research Internship is an excellent opportunity for an individual with a strong interest in contemporary art. The position involves writing, researching, developing online content, learning more about nonprofit arts organizations, and assisting Walker staff with a variety of administrative tasks related to the current needs of a busy presenting department. This internship also provides the opportunity to develop specific skills based on the intern's interests and background in arts administration.

Hours and Duration: Individual will work 12 hours per week minimum; days/hours flexible. The duration of this internship is September 2014 - May 2015.

Responsibilities will include researching and writing blog posts for The Green Room, our Performing Arts blog; researching, compiling, and organizing background information and supporting materials for upcoming programs; assisting with the formatting, editing, and printing program notes; and performing administrative tasks including archiving, file management, data entry, and other duties as necessary.

Qualifications: Applicant must have strong research, writing, and editing skills, be reliable and self-motivated, and have the ability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously. Applicant should have a working knowledge of MS Word and Excel. Familiarity with WordPress, Adobe Photoshop, MS Outlook, and PowerPoint is also desirable.
A top candidate would have a degree or current enrollment in arts, administration, writing, or a performance related program and/or a deep interest and involvement in the arts and audience engagement. Some professional office experience preferred. Must be able to lift 30lbs and have a driver's license.

Acoustic Guitar Teacher

I am looking for an acoustic guitar teacher for my 10 year old daughter. She has been having lessons for the past 2 years and her guitar teacher has taken a new job and is unable to continue with her lessons. We are looking for someone that could travel to Maple Grove once a week or once every two weeks for a 1 hour lesson. The times of the lesson would be flexible and could either be weekdays or weekends.

Part-Time Sales Associate at Music Store

Cadenza Music in St. Paul is searching for a new part-time employee! We need someone on a part-time basis to work some evening and weekend shifts, as well as some daytime hours. This employee will handle some delivery duties to area schools, drivng a store vehicle.

Part-time Sales Associate Position in music store: Work approximately 16 plus hours per week. Operate cash register software to accept payments, make change, handle sales transactions. Find products in store for customers, demonstrate and lease or sell band and orchestra instruments and guitars. Support teaching, repair shop, and store staff by taking accurate messages, handling instruments for repair, and helping to keep store looking good. Coordinate delivery of sales orders to area schools, driving store vehicle.

Must have a valid driver's license and be able to carry a tuba in its case.
Ideal candidate is a music educator; great candidate will be a friendly person who likes working with young musicians, parents, and adult music-lovers as well. The successful candidate will pay attention to the details, be a good problem-solver, and follow up until the job is done.
