Tenor Sax Player (Volunteer) for Big Band

The Good News Big Band is looking for a tenor sax player. Flute and clarinet doubling ability is a plus but NOT a deal breaker. This is an all volunteer band that was founded in 1994 with an outreach mission of using the medium of Christian Big Band Jazz to help churches lead worship. The band has played at hundreds of churches over the years throughout the state of Minnesota. In addition to augmenting church services, the band plays park concerts, Christmas concerts, fund raisers, jazz festivals, and has recorded live at the Artist's Quarter in St. Paul.

The band rehearses every Sunday night at the Oak Hill Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN , from 7-9 PM, from September thru June.

If you have or know someone who would enjoy playing in a well-run, seasoned big band with an extensive library, please have them contact me at the below e-mail address.

Vocal Auditions in St. Paul

The Gregorian Singers are auditioning new paid singers for this season and are particularly interested in University of Minnesota singers.

The Gregorian Singers maintain a core paid staff of twelve singers. A few excellent volunteer singers are added to this group. Because at least fifty per cent of our repertoire consists of early music, we look for singers with clear and articulate voices, who are musical and can float a musical line. Singers should have knowledge and understanding of early and new music, a passion for same, and be well-versed in music theory and sight-singing. Currently our greatest opportunities for paid singers are for tenor and bass.

Auditions will last approximately 20 minutes and will include five-note scales, tests for intervals, sight-reading, and tonal memory, as well as an appropriate solo of the singer's choice. Please arrive ten minutes before your scheduled appointment to complete the audition form.

Auditions, rehearsals and some performances take place at St. Paul's Church on the Hill, 1524 Summit Avenue, St. Paul, MN. Rehearsals will begin in mid-October.

To schedule an audition contact founder-director Monte Mason at 612-823-1688 or email mmmason@visi.com
