"In the depth of winter, I finally learned that within me lay an invincible summer."
-French philosopher Albert Camus

This quote is fitting to describe Nic's discovery of passion and change in emotions that she undertakes that summer at the camp for the gifted. She falls in love with Battle and her hopes and aspirations continue to develop and change. Nic becomes an Empress of her own world, and the experiences that happened to her that summer helped to shape her. It truly was an invincible summer for Nic. The summer after my senior year, I experienced a change and realization before heading to college. I developed goals for myself and changed my opinion and views on several issues. That was my invincible summer.
