A Tribue to Emmett Till

A Wreath for Emmett Till discusses the great tragedy of the lynching of a young boy. Through this terrible event, the Civil Rights Movement was sparked. Life has an interesting way of working through tragedy to create something positive. The Civil Rights Movement ultimately led to more freedoms for all. Have you ever been subject to a tragedy? How did you work through it? How did it change you, for better or for worse?

I think that everyone has worked through a tragedy in their own way on all levels of life. I have worked through the tragedies of 9/11 and recent school shootings. However, I have also worked through the tragedies of the fatal accident that killed my aunt and uncle and other personal things. I believe the only way to cope is to grieve and to celebrate life.

I think that everyone has had personal tragedies. I found that the best way to deal with situations like that is to realize that tomorrow is a new day and no matter how bad something is, it can only get better. I think that I have learned from a lot of my problems by realizing what I should do next time or by just getting thicker skin and dealing with it.

When things happen, be it one major event or a pile of small things, I need to put things into perspective. How does my terrible event fit into (or possibly even help?) the big picture. Personaly I am very action-oriented; if my hands are tied, then I fall into tears and solitude but if I can help, thats where cope best.

I have, along with most, been subject to tragedy. It really just opened my eyes to see that horrible things can happen, and that is why it is so important to embrace those amazing moments we are given. I coped by looking to the positives in my life, and seeng how I as an individual can work to make things better in my life when it comes to myself and others.

In high school a teacher had a tragic accident and died. This incident wan't caused by anyone. He was in a one car accident because he was driving after drinking a lot. I haven't really experienced anything like Emmitt Till's case. Although, I think that everyone experiences tragedy in their life. It is the sadness that links us all. If there wasn't any sad we wouldn't know how great it feels to be happy. We also wouldn't know how to feel bad and try to make things better in the world after something like Emmitt's case.
