Bridge

I chose this poem because it seemed very interesting. It made me think of different bridges we use in our lives. What kind of bridges do you see in your life? For example, the bridge to your future may be for education.

Bridges in our life are everywhere. They are essentially paths we take in life. We all chose the path to teaching, and our bridge to get there is college. Another bridge that I see is one that my mom took: she had a baby 3 1/2 years ago. Her path to a bigger family has been an enormous part of my life and has changed me in many ways. The bridges we take are important parts of our lives.

I think that college is my bridge to the kind of life that I want to have in the future and to more security as I grow older. That may sound like a small thing, but the future encompasses a lot of things. People say that money isn't everything and that it doesn't buy happiness. I think that we all know that's true. At the same time, I've experienced what a LACK of money brings. A lack of money can bring extra stress into your life and that stress can change a lot of things about your life. It's hard when the money isn't there for what are sometimes basic necessities. It's hard to get along with your family and to have patience when the money isn't there and things get tight. Because of this, I feel that I need my "bridge"/ my college education to bring more reassurance that I will always have possibilities and that I've done what I could to avoid a bridge to a more stressful life.

Essentially the bridge I chose to take connected me to the road of teaching. Indeed, college is the bridge which helped lead me to this road, however, it is my goal to continute down this path taking oportunties when they come my way to become the best educator that I can. For instance, I plan to take another bridge to complete my student teaching aborad in New Zealand. In a couple of weeks I am going to take the bridge to an annual three day conference for educators!
