Provide opportunities for youth to experience quality relationships and develop lifelong skills:
 Work with school-community partnership team to design and develop site based 4-H clubs in the St Cloud, Rochester or Duluth area, which are aimed at increasing the quantity and quality of out of school time learning opportunities. These programs will reach at least 25 youth (5th-9th grade), who will experience academic gains, demonstrated by a .5 increase in GPA over one year.
 Be a key point of contact for site-based 4-H youth development programs who want to become engaged in the five promises and secure related commitments.
 Work closely with teachers and the school-community partnership team to develop best local strategies for closing the achievement gap, including how community volunteers will help address the needs of targeted youth.
 Engage youth in at least 20 hours of civic engagement activities during the year.
 Recruit, support, and train community volunteers, including family members to work with youth members.
 Work with their supervisor and the school-community partnership team to document key contacts and learning’s from program implementation and related evaluations.

Fulfill requirements and adhere to the provisions of the Minnesota AmeriCorps Promise Fellow Program as specified in related documents that will be provided to the Fellow.

Participate in creating an Individual Development Plan and participate in resulting development activities within AmeriCorps Promise Fellow guidelines and requirements.

• 18 years or older
• A U.S. citizen
• Able to serve in a full time position (e.g., not a full time student or working elsewhere full time)
• Interested in serving youth, the community, and non-profit work
• We are committed to recruiting and engaging individuals without regard to disability, gender, race, religion, or sexual orientation

• Associate or Bachelor degree in community or youth development, education, or related field.
• Strong oral and written communication skills.
• Volunteer experience and desire to develop a strong ethic of service.
• Experience working collaboratively with youth.
• Commitment to positive youth development.
• Able to deal effectively with multiple tasks and competing deadlines.
• Self motivated, capable of effectively working independently without daily supervision.
• Has initiative to see and follow through with “next steps? that will need to be taken.
• Able to present oneself in a highly professional manner and be an ambassador for the program.

August 15, 2008 – August 14, 2009
Promise Fellow must complete 1700 hours of service over a one year period.
