Gee-golly it's swell to work inthe bizarro writing center!
Do you have a paper that needs to be proofread? Bring it here! All we do here is edit papers. Short on time? No worry! Just drop the paper off at the front desk, and we'll get on it right away. You can expect to pick your paper back up, error free, in about twenty minutes.
Not a student? We don't care! These services are for everyone, whether they pay or not; student service fees pay for services for peopple other than students: it's just a name.
No, we will not help you learn anything for yourself. It just takes too much time. And, frankly, I don't have the time. I, and I assume you as well, would prefer to just have a well-written paper. That's all that counts.
Got some questions about MLA style that you're just too lazy to look up on your own time? That's why we're here! Just call our toll-free hotline, and one of our many freindly operators will answer your questions for you.
Spell check function of Word too difficult to find for you? Not for me! I have six years of training and four years' experience using spell check. It's not as easy as it looks.
Yeah, baby, better papers, not better writers! And we guaran-freakin-tee that you will get As on everything you bring to the BWC. That's our promise to you, the customer.
Posted by: Eitak at December 13, 2005 1:28 PMWho posted this comment? The username doesn't look familiar at all. Anyways, I'm pretty sure that Stephen M. North turned over in is grave while Ben was typing this action. According to North, of course, the ideal location for the writing center would be part of the hollistic self improvement process of the individual writer. This would not be the main goal in the bizarro writing center of course. However, as shown by my research, the writing center may actually fit in North's ideal spot. As shown by my research, as for the 23 students comprising my sample at least, a huge majority of them visited the writing center at least 2 days before the due date of the paper. That may suggest that, students are in fact planning their process around the writing center, leaving enough time to adequately consider, engage, and in fact use the feedback which they recieve.
Posted by: Rick F. at December 13, 2005 7:36 PMThe Writing Center is tres bizarro. That's a good word. A suggestion for the Writing Center: let's do a Word of the Day. We can each learn a new word everyday. And then, when we have tutoring sessions, we can work on sounding smart.
