The median price in 2008 for Atlanta homes is $280,000 and Sandy Springs is well above this. You can get a house here at under $200,000, but also at $10 million. However, as this is written there are condos in Sandy Springs available at under $50,000 for a one bedroom condo to $800,000+. Much depends upon your needs.

What this indicates is that, irrespective of the reputation of the area of Atlanta, Atlanta condos can be obtained at prices well below that you would expect to pay for a single home. Condos are particularly suitable for single people and those that travel a lot. They are also good if you want to live in a good or prestigious area but cannot afford the price of a normal single home, such as in Chastain Park. You have plenty of choices in Atlanta, and a large proportion of Atlanta real estate on the market is in the form of high-rise condos in the centre of the city or in the commercial areas.

The Trump Tower, currently in process of construction, is offering hundreds of condos, many of which have already been sold. Prices are from $400,000 to $1.3 million. This is a good deal because Chastain Park contains old money and old mansions and is one of Atlanta's most sought after localities with many homes selling at well over $1 million. It is easy to get caught out if you are unaware of this extra monthly cost, so make sure you find that out before making an offer. Many condos are owned by businesses as temporary accommodation for employees, visitors and customers who are staying in Atlanta overnight or for a short period only.

As with any other form of habitation you get what you pay for, and New Orleans condos are no different to any other with respect to the facilities they offer. Pay the basic price and you get the basic condo, but that is what many people want. In a district where a reasonable condo is priced at $200,000+, many students, for example, or young people in their first job, would love the opportunity of a $100,000 condo, no matter how basic. For obvious reasons, however, these are not easy to find.

No matter where you want to buy your condo, or your reason for buying it, you need a professional realtor to help you through the maze. There so many laws, such as tax free gains when you sell a home that has been your residence for at least two years. Visually, the French Quarter can be described as unique, provoking a great deal of interest on behalf of the tourists: and that is something that this area is never short of. It was spared most of the damage suffered by other parts of New Orleans by Hurricane Katrina, and completely escaped the flooding. One thing you have to keep in mind is that there is a lot more to the French Quarter than just Bourbon Street, although even that rather tacky area is still somebody's home. The residential areas are more towards Rampart Street and Esplanade Street. In the business areas the apartments are on upper stories above the commercial premises, but in the residential areas it is all homes. The Vieux Carré Commission is doing its best to retain the character and history of this part of New Orleans, and restoration of the old buildings and courtyards is encouraged. Traffic lights are restricted to side-streets, and the street lighting is in the style of the old gaslights. You won't find a large bus here, and the modern department stores have been strictly regulated, helping to maintain the traditional style of shopping in the French Quarter.

That is what you get when you decide to buy real estate here. The tradition, the preservation and the friendship of the residents. But what of the housing? You have a wide choice of condos, but there are also more traditional homes available, set in courtyards with fountains and potted flowers. If you have renovation in mind, keep in mind that restoration is the name of the game here rather than renovation, and any alterations have to be approved by the Vieux Carré Commission. Make sure, therefore, that what you have in mind is allowed before you part with your money.

Prices are relatively high, but you are buying into a neighborhood here, and also in to an area in the city that is famous the world over. Having said that, the apartments and condos are affordable. Much of the architecture is in the old French Creole style, characterized by long porches with the roofs extending over the porches. They also tend to be built up to withstand seasonal floodwater, and such buildings survived the Katrina floods better than the more modern style of homes.

Although New Orleans in general has been a buyer's market since 2005, prices are now rapidly rising as people return, and Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie recently purchased a 3.5 million dollar 6 bedroom townhouse close to the French Market and the Café du Monde. Other celebrities are purchasing properties, but it is the ordinary person that the French Quarter needs and good family homes are available from around $350,000 upwards. You can also get one bedroom condos for just over $300,000, so the cheaper prices are there, especially for single people or couples without families.

If you are determined to find a home in the French Quarter of New Orleans, they are available, but prices are rising rapidly. This is a double edged sword since although you have to buy quickly to get a reasonable price, your equity will rise rapidly and this is also a very good time to buy for investment.

The French Quarter has a character all of its own and those that have decided to live there never want to move. The friendship and neighborliness is something that cannot be purchased, and you can be sure that your district will remain traditional and not be turned by some national store into a gigantic shopping mall.

The apres ski is low-key. Although there are several pubs that are open late at night, these are not considered major centers for social interactions. Thus, if a visitor is simply looking for opportunities to gain new friends, then the Passo Tonale is not the right place.

Most of the visitors in new ski resort in Passo Tonale simply rest at night to regain their strength and to prepare for long hours of skiing during the day. This new ski resort is the ideal training area for beginners and intermediate skiers. There are 54 miles of downhill runs and 19 miles of cross-country trails. There are 30 ski lifts that will take 33,000 skiers per hour to the top of the slopes. And there is a first-rate ski school where exceptional and professional ski instructors can be found.

Since skiers come to this new ski resort to train, the accommodations are simple and affordable. There are no Jacuzzis but skiers will still find their nights comfortable and warm. Even in August, the atmosphere in the new ski resort is still chilly. But the simplicity of accommodations may not always be the case as the future unfolds. The reputation of this new ski resort is growing by leaps and bounds. In fact, several new 3-storey hotels are already being constructed while the old ones are being renovated. Hopefully, the sheer stark beauty of the simple snowy landscapes of this new ski resort will remain the same.

United Arab Emirates (UAE) comprises the seven members of Abu Dhabi, the capital, Dubai, Sharjah, Ajman, Umm Al Quwain, Ras Al Khaimah and Fujairah.

The total area of the country is approximately 83600 square kilometers, mostly in Abu Dhabi emirate. Dubai, with an area of 3885 square kilometres, is the second largest emirate. Situated on the banks of Dubai Creek, a natural inlet of the gulf that divides the city in Deira district in the north and its Bur Dubai on its south, the city ranks as the UAE 's most important port and commercial centre.

UAE has 700 kilometers of coastline, of which 100 km are in the Gulf of Oman. Along the coast of the Arabian Gulf are off-shore islands, reefs and sabkha, or salt-marshes. Distese gravel, simple and barren desert characterize the inland region.

To the east, a series of mountains is located near the Gulf of Oman and is a backbone through the Mussandam Peninsula. Western interior of the country, most of it in Abu Dhabi, consists mainly of desert interspersed with oases.
Population

According to the Ministry of Planning, the population of the UAE widened in 1994 from 2230000 to 2377453 in 1995. Dubai 's population is 674,101.
Clima

UAE has a sub-tropical, arid climate. Rain is infrequent and irregular. It includes, especially in winter, is around 13 centimeters a year. Temperatures ranging from a minimum of about 10 degrees Celsius to a high of 48 degrees Celsius. The average daily maximum is 24 degrees to rise in January to 41 degrees in July.
Government

The UAE Supreme Council, comprising the hereditary rulers of the seven Emirates, is the highest federal authority. E 'responsible for general policy issues involving communications, education, defence, foreign affairs and development, and ratification of federal laws. The President, HH Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahayan, who is also Ruler of Abu Dhabi, and the Vice-President, HH Sheikh Maktoum bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who is also ruler of Dubai, are elected by the Supreme Council from among its members.

The Federal Council of Ministers responsible to the Supreme Council, the Executive has the power to initiate and implement laws. The Federal National Council is a consultative assembly of 40 representatives who are appointed for two years by individual Emirates. The Council monitors and debate government policy, but has no power of veto.

While Abu Dhabi is the center of activity of the federal government, most government departments also maintain offices in Dubai.

Requirements of Obtaining a Driving License
Before buying that new car, you will need to consider the process of obtaining your drivers UAE license. To get your UAE drivers license, you need to be a resident of country, with a residence visa issued in any of the emirates. However, if you are a resident of an emirate but have a visa issued in another, then you need to obtain a transferal form allowing you to obtain your driver's license from the former. You must be at least 18 years old to apply for the driver’s license. An International Driving License is valid for use ONLY up to the date on which you obtain your Residence Visa, after which you will need to apply for a UAE license.

Transferring An International License

If you already have a driver’s license from the United States, the United Kingdom, or any of the GCC countries, most European countries, or any of the countries mentioned below, you can transfer to a UAE driver's license without having to take driving lessons or tests. It is only important to transfer to a UAE driving license if you are planning to reside in the UAE.
Drivers licenses from the following countries may transfer their licenses: Australia, Austria, Belgium, Canada, Czech Republic, Cyprus, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Holland, Iceland, Iran, Ireland, Italy, Japan, Luxembourg, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Singapore, Slovakia, South Korea, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, United Kingdom, United States
If you do have a drivers license that you wish to transfer and are at least 18 years of age,

you can make your way down to the Dubai Traffic Police with the following: A valid driver's license, a residence visa in the UAE, a completed driver's license form, one passport size photograph, a copy of your passport (a photocopy of the main page and the visa page), eye test report (which you can get at any hospital), Dhs. 100, A No objection letter from your sponsor/employer, as part of the documentation.

If you don’t have a drivers license from one of the countries listed, you will have to obtain a UAE drivers license by taking driving classes and applying for the drivers test.

Criteria for Obtaining a UAE driving license

If you have never driven before or have a driving license that is not on the approved list of 36 countries, then you must go to a certified driving school, who will train you, so that you can pass the Dubai Traffic Police Driving Test and thus obtain your driving license. (If you are 18-21 year of age, you can apply for a probationary license). A reputed driving school will do most of the procedures for you, including internal tests.
Before you decide to get a driver's permit, you should first decide which driving institute you wish to take driving lessons with. Driving institutes in the UAE can be grouped into two types, which are described below.

Type A - These driving institutes are large institutes. Initially a driving student needs to sign up with the driving institute and pay for the number of classes he/she will take, before beginning training. The student will also have scheduled lesson timings that has to be followed, and if a student misses a certain number of classes, then the classes will be cancelled without a refund. Most of these institutes have a typing office and eye test facilities, which will facilitate obtaining your driver's permit. Students are also able to take road tests normally taken at the Traffic Department, inside the institute.

Type B - These smaller driving institutes are the most common in the UAE. The student can request lessons from the driving institute's instructor whenever he/she has available time. The instructor will come to the driving student's residence in order for him/her to take driving lessons.

So if you chosen to undergo driving classes with a Type B, then you must obtain the driving license application form from any driving institute near you. After obtaining the application form, you will then need to gather together 4 passport size photographs (4cm x 6cm), your original passport (which is only used for inspection) and a photocopy of it (main and visa pages),a 'No Objection Letter' from your sponsor (indicating that they don't object that you apply for a driver's license), and either a photocopy of your sponsor's passport or your company's trade license. When obtaining the 'No Objection Letter' from your sponsor, you should have him/her sign and stamp in the required place on the application form. Then take the application form and the other items down to any typing office in the UAE and have them fill out the form in Arabic using a typewriter, as the Traffic Department will not accept applications written by hand. The filled form should then be taken to any UAE government hospital, or any private hospital, clinic, or optical centre in the UAE for an eye examination. The eye examiner will fill out the necessary place on the back of the form and stamp it. The eye exam/test will cost around Dhs. 25-50. Finally, submit your application form and other items to the driving institute, so that they can take them down to the Traffic Department for the issuing of the permit. A fee of Dhs. 100 should be submitted with the filled application form. The driving permit is valid for one year and will cost Dhs. 40 for it to be renewed.

Taking Driving Lessons

Students can decide whether they wish to take driving classes using a manual or automatic vehicle. The cost for driving lessons will differ from institute to institute but normally it costs Dhs. 30 per class for manual lessons and Dhs. 35 per class for automatic lessons. Driving classes last for about 40 to 45 minutes. The number of lessons needed will depend on the student's experience with a car, but students who have no experience will need around 40 to 50 classes, while students with some experience may need 10 to 20 classes. Driving institutes working hours are between 8:30AM and 1:30PM and again from 3:00PM to 5:30PM.

Signal Test

On the date assigned by your school, go with your passport, driving file+ 2 photos to Dubai Traffic Police, Driving License. Fill up application form & submit AED 35 for signal test. When your name is called out, go to the computer booth and identify the traffic signals. (In case you are not computer literate, you can opt for the manual test). Collect the pass print-out with your road test date (if you fail, pay the test-fee & you will be given another new test time and date) and submit to your driving school.

Road Test

On the date assigned, go with your passport, driving file+ 2 photos to Dubai Traffic Police, Driving License Section. Fill up application form & submit AED 35 for road test. When your name is called out, go along with the other three candidates and the inspector to the designated car. You will be given just a few minutes to demonstrate your driving and anticipatory skills.

If you pass, collect the pass paper from your inspector and go to the Pass Counter. Submit along with suitable ID & AED 100. Collect your test file and submit to Control Counter. After processing, pay required fee and proceed to photo area. When your name is called out, have your photo taken. Congratulations. In a few minutes, you will receive your DL and be eligible to drive in Dubai and the UAE.

Important note:

Zero-tolerance on drinking and driving: Do keep in mind that Dubai has a zero-tolerance policy on drinking and driving. Plainclothesmen travel about in unmarked vehicles and can legally stop you at any time to check.
If you find yourself in a precarious situation, don’t drive. There is a new private service called Safedriver, mainly available from major hotels, Safedriver can arrange to drive you and your car home for a small fee ranging from AED 80 to 120.

Al Bastakiya Area dates back to the early years of 1900, and covers the Eastern area of the Old Town along the Creek. This area represents an important component in the history of architecture, and the urban development of the city.
To the East of the Al Fahidi fort you will find the largest concentration of traditional courtyard houses in Dubai with their characteristic wind towers. In the past, the city was well known for its enormous quantity of wind towers on both sides of the Creek. These towers were not only decorative but served as the only form of Air Conditioning in these days before the invention of the electricity.

* Souqs
'Souq ' is the Arabic word for "market". Or a place where all types of goods are traded or exchanged. In the old days the Dhows from the Far East, China, Ceylon and India used to discharge their freight here, after which the goods were traded on the adjacent Souqs.
