A loving grandmother passes away

An extended family

Peter enjoyed the fact that he comes from a family that has spread throughout the globe. He has relatives living in different countries in Europe and the Asia Pacific region. The biggest achievement though is that his extended family has remained very close despite the obvious disadvantage of great distances. He knows most of his uncles and aunts as well as his cousins. In fact, if there is ever an opportunity they would visit each other and have wonderful vacations in different countries. Accommodations are never a problem because there is always a ready bed in their relatives’ homes. Peter has visited his cousins in Australia, France, Singapore, Hong Kong, Sweden, Belgium and the UK. He enjoys spending a lot of time with his relatives because he not only gets to bond with his relatives but he also gets a taste of experiencing different cultures and gaining a first-hand knowledge of the countries he has visited. In fact, his travels have become so influential to him that he decided to take International Studies in college.

A special place in the heart

Among all of the countries that he has visited though, the United Kingdom has a special place in his heart. This is because his grandmother has relocated there with one of his aunts. He loved visiting his grandmother and bonding with her, listening to her stories of her childhood as a daughter of a diplomat. She also travelled extensively as a child, accompanying her father to his trips abroad whenever she can get away with it. Peter never forgot her grandmother even when he was back home in Canada. He would continually send her emails (his grandmother learned to open her own email because so many of her grandchildren and grand nieces and nephews send her messages) and call her whenever he has the time. He would also periodically send her flowers. Because of Peter’s penchant to send flowers to his grandmother he had to use the services of a UK florist to take care of flower delivery in his behalf. A loved one passes away

A big blow came to Peter when he found out that his grandmother has taken ill. She was 93 years old and her health has deteriorated over the years. Peter, by this time, has been forced to limit his travels because of the demands of both work and family. His career is taking much of his time as well as being a new husband. Even though he could not visit his grandmother he would still continue to call her on the phone and send her loving email messages. He also sent her quite a number of get well bouquets to cheer her up. Even though he felt guilty for not having visited his grandmother he knew that she understood his situation. His grandmother even consoled him and told him not to feel guilty. She was excited about the fact that Peter is now married and intimated that she looked forward to seeing her great grandchildren.

But his grandmother’s health continued to worsen until one day received a tearful call from his aunt. Peter’s grandmother passed away in her sleep. Peter was devastated about the news and yet despite his desire to fly to the UK to attend his grandmother’s funeral he just could not. There are pressing matters at school and as a doctorate student it is just not possible for him to leave. Peter knew that his grandmother would have understood if he was not able to go to his funeral but he still wanted to show her how much she means to him. He again enlisted the help of Serenata Flowers. He placed an order for a number of very beautiful bouquets for his grandmother. A final gesture of how much he loved her.

Salve a tutti gli amanti del turismo e delle vacanze nella natura della Maremma Toscana.

Oggi voglio raccontarvi la piacevole esperienza del mio ultimo soggiorno alle Terme di Saturnia, in agriturismo.

Agriturismo Saturnia? Sì, credetemi, l’agriturismo e’ il posto ideale per soggiornare nelle verdi campagne della Maremma Toscana, anche se, sia il paese stesso di Saturnia, che tutti i paesini circostanti, anche nel raggio di diversi chilometri, come ad esempio Semproniano, Pitigliano, Sorano, Scansano, Manciano ed anche frazioni come Montemerano, sono fornitissimi in termini di bed and breakfast, case vacanza, appartamenti, affittacamere, e talvolta anche di alberghi, spesso classificati come “alberghi di campagna�; lo Stabilimento Terme di Saturnia costituisce un’eccezione a sé stante, sia in termini di dimensioni ( è grandissimo ), sia perché ospita al proprio interno le piscine e la sorgente termale stessa.

Dopo essermi addentrato in lunghe e solitarie strade tortuose nell’entroterra maremmano, ed essere stato accompagnato da un paesaggio collinare punteggiato di pecore al pascolo e di covoni di fieno, sono finalmente giunto all’agriturismo che avevo prenotato per la mia agognata vacanza.

L’accoglienza e la sistemazione sono state più che buone, sempre tenendo nella dovuta considerazione il fatto che qui ci troviamo in aperta campagna, e non in una metropoli, ed anche il livello dei servizi è stato più che soddisfacente, mentre la colazione, il pranzo e la cena, serviti nel ristorante casalingo facente parte dell’agriturismo, sono stati semplicemente indimenticabili, essendo stati l’occasione per la scoperta di sapori nuovi, freschi e genuini. Ho così assaggiato specialità tradizionali ( acquacotta, agnello con le olive, cantuccini ) accompagnate da pecorino locale, vino rosso toscano ed olio extravergine toscano novello di prima qualità.

Le giornate sono trascorse in modo estremamente piacevole e soprattutto rilassante. La Toscana è nota fin da tempi remoti per la calma e la quiete che vi regnano, e la località delle Terme di Saturnia non tradisce certo le aspettative in questo senso, anche se, è bene ricordarlo, si tratta pur sempre di una località turistica nota a livello internazionale, e quindi soggetta periodicamente a veri e propri “assalti� da parte dei vacanzieri, essenzialmente nei periodi di punta di agosto e dei ponti festivi in generale.

Nonostante quindi la sua vocazione turistica, la scelta di una vacanza in uno dei tanti agriturismi o bed and breakfast di Saturnia, nati come funghi nei pressi delle Terme, è garanzia di una vacanza nel tipico stile di massimo relax della Maremma, ma anche di benessere e di cura della salute e del proprio corpo: le proprietà terapeutiche delle acque di Saturnia sono note almeno quanto la fama della piacevole sensazione donata dal bagno in queste acque tiepide a 37 gradi.

Nonostante l’ottima cucina toscana, non ho avuto per fortuna modo di metter su qualche ulteriore chilo, perché il movimento nella giornata non è mai mancato, fra lunghe passeggiate a cavallo nei boschi di castagne del Monte Amiata, e bagni caldi, spesso anche notturni, alle Cascate del Gorello ( note anche come Cascate del Molino ), che si trovano a meno di un chilometro dalla sorgente delle Terme di Saturnia, e, diversamente da queste ultime, sono accessibili 24 ore al giorno.

Si è trattato solo di un week-end, ma credetemi, cari amici, veramente intenso, piacevole e rigenerante! Dopo questa esperienza, sono convinto che non ci siano altre località nella Toscana più meritevoli di quella di Saturnia per una vacanza di autentico benessere nella natura.

Castiglione della Pescaia und den gesamten Monte Argentario.
Über Saturnia selbst hinaus bieten alle diese Orte vielfältige Aufenthaltsmöglichkeiten, wie Agriturismi, Hotels, Bed and Breakfast, Vermietung von Zimmern und Appartements, Ferienhäuser, Contry Houses und Residenze d'Epoca in einem Umfang, der preislich von einem sparsamen Urlaub reicht bis zu einem aufwändigeren und komfortableren Aufenthalt.
Viele Agriturismi bieten ihren Gästen folgende Annehmlichkeiten: Mountainbikes, Schwimmbecken, Klimaanlagen, sky-TV, Reitbahn, Internetanschluss, außerdem eine reichhaltige Auswahl an Olivenöl Extravergine, Käse, Honig und Wein, alles aus eigener Produktion.
Und natürlich kann der Gast in seinem Erholungsurlaub die lokalen Gerichte und Spezialitäten genießen, die im Agriturismo direkt zubereitet werden, nach alten Originalrezepten, und vor allem unter Verwendung naturbelassener Zutaten, häufig den Richtlinien der Bio-Kultur entsprechend.
Das Thermalwasser von Saturnia dient nicht nur zur reinen Entspannung bei einem Bad mit Körpertemperatur, möglich zu allen Jahreszeiten, sondern es eignet sich auch für Kurzwecke auf dem Gebiet der Dermatologie, HNO-Heilkunde, Frauenheilkunde. Es wirkt ein auf den Bewegungsapparat, die Atmung, Verdauung und Gefäße.
Das Eintauchen in dieses etwas seltsam aussehende Wasser bereitet schon beim ersten Mal ein unvergessliches angenehmes Gefühl: das unmittelbare Wohlbehagen in perfekt temperiertes Wasser zu gleiten.
