White Page on Bedding Industry

The home furnishings industry has undergone a slew of changes over the course of the past ten years. You can see many of these changes every time you walk into a furniture store around the country.

Sofas have gone from being hard wooden messes into being plush masterpieces that have pullout memory foam mattresses inside. The costs have gone up slightly, but the benefits seem to be worth the expenses.

Most products are not made in China. It is a sad thing, because many Americans have lost their jobs due to the outsourcing of the manufacturing process. North Carolina has been hit especially hard with this.

One of the few industries that still produces most of their products in the United States is the mattress industry. Select Comfort, Serta, Simmons, Tempurpedic and more are all produced right here in the US. Due to high transportation expenses, it is unlikely this will change soon.

If you’ve ever been wondering it is furniture is so expensive, you must consider the sheer size of the items. Transportation can be extremely costly, and it is not unusual for companies to see 15%+ of their merchandise damaged before even arriving at the point of sale.

The good thing about the internet is that it has given people the opportunity to purchase items at a much lower price than ever before, due to easier price comparison and an easier ability to research effectively. The furniture information source is also something worth checking out when you get a chance.
