Welcome to the Office of International Programs! Here is some information to get started with technology.
Calendar - UMCal
Email - Thunderbird (preferred), OS X Mail, Outlook
Web Browser - Firefox (preferred), Safari, Internet Explorer (as needed)
You will have your own folders on the server for storage and sharing.
Work with your supervisor to schedule technology training and orientation. Things generally covered are: OIP Account, Internet Account, UMCal, Computer Operating System (if needed), Security and Phone.
Atomic Learning - OIP has access to this online training service where you'll find short interactive training modules for software products.
University Technology Training Center - The UTTC offers training on a variety of applications. Classes are free to faculty, staff and students.
Internet Account - Configure your online accounts.
NetFiles - is a central web-based file share tool available to all UofM staff. Documents can be stored and shared inside and outside the University.
Personal web space is available to all UofM employees with and Internet ID.
UMConnect - There are a number of tools available here. A main one is collaborative meetings via your workstation. Anyone can setup a meeting with anyone else at the UofM that has and Internet ID and has UMConnect available as an option on their account (done simply by logging in to the above URL).
UMWiki - A wiki is intended as a collaborative web space. Use a wiki if you have a project that will have many content contributors.
UThink Blog - A blog is intended as a information broadcasting mechanism. One or a few contributors share content with a larger audience of simple content consumers.
