Due to unresolved technical issues, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) has postponed the upgrade to the switches in all of its data centers (WBOB, TelecomB, Infotech, PWB, Bio Ag Eng) that was scheduled for 6 a.m. Sunday, Jan. 13. The upgrade is scheduled to take place in February.
One of the bugs this upgrade corrects is a known memory leak.
OIT expects about a 10 minute outage per stack of switches. During this outage, servers that are connected to these switches will be out of service, so any centrally hosted applications will be unavailable (including e-mail and Web services such as personal Web pages and Web hotel).
OIT has been working on this code version for about four weeks in our facility to prepare for the upgrade, and this code is also already uploaded and running in other locations on campus.
If you have any questions, please call 1-HELP on campus at (612) 301-4357.
