The Office of Information Technology's Video Solutions has produced a half-hour documentary for the President's Office and University Relations about the U of M's new TCF Bank Stadium.
The program features opening game day footage of the Gophers defeat of Air Force on September 12 as well as interviews with key players in the planning, fundraising, and construction of the stadium. To document the opening day required two production crews shooting interviews, game day festivities in the stadium as well as at McNamara Alumni Center and crowd reaction. A highlight of the program is time-lapse footage of the stadium as spectators fill up the stadium through the end of the victorious game.
The spirit and excitement of the new stadium on campus is reflected in the documentary. It delivers a key message that this is truly Minnesota's Stadium; it's for every person in every county in the state. The documentary describes how others will use the stadium such as Kinesiology classes and the University of Minnesota Marching Band.
The documentary, "The Road to TCF Bank Stadium," is slated to premiere on the Big Ten Network on October 8 in Minnesota's programming block at 10 a.m. It will then re-air later that day at 4 p.m. and again at 4 a.m on the October 9. In addition it will be on the Web and distributed for local and state programming.
The program will be posted online featuring three components: the complete program, the two minute open, and the time-lapse footage of the entire opening day.
