Minnesota Coach Saul Smith Arrested for DUI, Put on Administrative Leave

University of Minnesota assistant basketball coach Saul Smith, son of Tubby Smith, was arrested early Saturday morning on suspicion of driving under the influence, news sources report.

Smith, 32, was arrested on Interstate 394 after leaving a downtown restaurant for speeding and driving on the shoulder, according to the Pioneer Press.

Smith has been with the Gophers as an assistant coach since his father took the head coaching position six years ago, according to the Star Tribune.

Smith is a first time offender according a university press release, and is scheduled to appear in court Dec. 3, the Star Tribune reported.
