PITTSBURGH — A woman who put her miscarried fetus in her freezer will not be tried on one of the charges against her, according to a spokesman for the prosecutor.Allegheny County District Attorney Stephen A. Zappala Jr. has decided to drop a charge of abuse of a corpse against Christine Hutchinson, 22, of Pittsburgh, Zappala’s spokesman Mike Manko said Tuesday.
Last month, a district judge ordered Hutchinson to stand trial on that charge, as well as concealing the death of a child.
Abuse of a corpse “will not be on the [court] documents when they are filed during formal arraignment,” Manko said.
Defense attorney Lawrence Fisher said prosecutors will withdraw the remaining charge once Hutchinson agrees to continue treatment for depression.
Yes, you read that right. A woman who had a miscarriage through no fault of her own is being charged with "concealing the death of a child." There is so many things wrong with this picture, like how exactly is one supposed to handle a miscarriage, don't people routinely put dead bodies in freezers anyway, and why is the government compounding a woman's grief, but it all boils down to what kind of agenda the anti-choicers are setting down. These are the same crowd who do not mind seeing more women dying if their protect-the-fetus campaign can continue steamrolling over women's rights. They love to see more teenaged mothers who cannot take care of their babies because allowing these girls a choice in the matter would get in their way of controlling the uterus.
In the end, I will guarantee that those who have abortions will face the death penalty or the equivalent, all miscarriages will be cause for murder investigations, and all zygotes will be issued birth certificates if the anti-choicers have their way.
