A Time To Grieve

I measure every Grief I meet
With narrow, probing Eyes-
I wonder if it weighs like Mine -
Or has an Easier size.

- Emily Dickinson

What, When and Where?

The UMD Student Grief Support Group meets every Wednesday from 4 to 5:30 in Kirby 361.

These are open meetings dealing with lose. There are no predetermined topics. Whatever needs to be said is open for discussion. The meetings take a conversational tone, talking to others about how they got through their tough times.

The room has large plush couches and offers drinks and snacks. The meetings have anywhere from three to twelve people involved every week.

The meetings are open to anyone, no need for initial contact before you show up. If you can’t make the start, don’t worry, come when you can. And if you have to leave early, go ahead.

Confidante, Compassionate, Open

The UMD Student Grief Support Group is there for anyone who needs to talk, listen or be with people who understand their situation.

The group respects all four aspects of confidentially every meeting…

(1) What is said in the room stays in the room.

(2) There will be no judgments made to those sharing their intimate and personal feelings.

(3) Participants keep their advice to a minimum. You are there for support, not listening to what you need to do.

(4) Everyone gets a chance to talk, no one dominates the meetings.
