iTunes 11.0.2 Available

iTunes 11.0.2 will be deployed to OVPR computers where an older version of iTunes is already present starting tomorrow. The update will be deployed using OVPR IT's application deployment system and the program will install automatically on the targeted computers in the coming days with no user action necessary.

As a reminder, iTunes is an optional application available as a self-install to OVPR employees via the "Run Advertised Program" control panel. If you would like to install it on your computer, here are the steps:

Go to the Start menu >> Control Panel >> Programs
Click on "Run Advertised Programs (32bit)"
Select "OVPR-iTunes" in the list and click the Run button.
Just follow the instructions on screen to download and install the software.

New default compose experience in Gmail

We are introducing a redesigned compose experience in Gmail that saves you time, uses less screen space, and is simple to use. The new compose experience opens a window at the bottom of your inbox. You can compose multiple messages at once, search through your inbox and even reply to other messages all while keeping your new draft open.

NOTE: Users will be able to opt-out of this new experience for two weeks.

Mozilla Firefox 19.0.2

Java JRE Update 1.7.0_17

The latest version of Java was deployed on Wednesday, March 6th. Users should not notice any interruption. The application cannot be installed while a browser is running, so the deployment will retry until the application is successfully installed.

Adobe Flash 11.6.602.180

The Adobe Flash Update was deployed to OVPR computers today March 13, 2013 using Adobe's auto-updating application deployment system. It will install automatically on OVPR computers. No user action necessary.

InfoEd Maintenance Thursday 3/14 at 5pm

OIA Hosted Servers to Reboot this Weekend

Our servers which OIA hosts will be patched this weekend. The file servers that are being patched house various OVPR websites and applications. If any of the patches require a restart after they are applied, the outage should be minimal. See the original message from OIA Systems Support below.

This weekend we will be applying Microsoft patches to Saturday
maintenance servers on Saturday morning 3/2/2013, and Sunday
maintenance servers on Sunday morning 3/3/2013. If there are
any problems over the weekend, please call (612) 624-0855 and have the
on-call person for OIAWINDOWS paged.

Java 7 Update 15 Deployment

The latest version of Java will be deployed starting the afternoon of Tuesday, February 26th. This is a required update as Java 6 will no longer be available. There is a known issue for users of WebNow that disables the ability to print. There are two workarounds for this. 1) save the document to your desktop and then print or 2) install and use the ImageNow desktop client.

This will be installed automatically on OVPR computers using the application deployment system, with no user action necessary. If you experience any issues with the update, please contact OVPR IT.

InfoEd Database Server Maintenance

The Mozilla Thunderbird 17.0.3 and 17.0.3 ESR update has been deployed to those OVPR computers which have Thunderbird installed as of Wednesday, February 20, 2013 using OVPR IT's application deployment system. It installed automatically on OVPR computers, with no user action necessary.
